I took my very late '05 CRD to Advance even though I didn't have a CEL thinking that the EGR was gone, but they didn't retrieve any codes. I took the CRD in to the stealership for several problems the shudder had returned and the engine has used 1/2 quart of oil, along with poor mpg. So late that evening I called to check up on the CRD and they said that they found a code in the memory about the MAF sensor not functioning properly so they order the part and were going to keep it over night to replace the MAF sensor. They called late the next afternoon, and said that the part didn't come in so they were keeping it over the weekend. I hope this fixes the problems.
Mine did a cell for MAF not functioning properly at about 400 miles the dealer checked and ordered a new one and wife drove it another week (CEL wen't off) before part came in, they replaced it and we have had no further trouble. The old MAF had something stuck to the wire. Durring this instal the tech said they had had a lot of reports of EGR electronics failing because of dirt in the module. Said he had taken it off and cleaned it (EGR) when he had had to take part of the EGR apart to install a new dipstick tube, it had been bent down when engine was installed and had to fixed the first week we had the Jeep.
Wonder why they wanted to keep your Jeep, it wouldn't hurt anything to have driven it few days. My guess is we put 200 or 300 miles on the Jeep before the part got installed.
