Ok so the reason I posted this in 4X4 discussion is to get some ideas on options. . . I know she is going to need a new CV axle, and possibly a new coil and strut assembly. Just got to hunt down parts. . . I want to keep the KJ with the 2.5" lift but not sure if I want to keep with Skyjacker. Rancho? OME? And i think i found were i am going to get the driver side CV JBA. Any other options? thoughts? ideas?

Yikes dude what happened??

I'd go ahead and bite for a new brake line, the proximity to the line to the damage looks like it may have gotten pinched or crimped or otherwise damaged in the process of everything going to ****.

JBA or remanned cv's are the ticket

please be careful disassembling that stuff we'd like to keep all fingers and appendages attached

I took my XJ to work to do some serious snow bashing and the wife took the KJ out to run around town, with the snow we got in Virginia and the idiot drivers she had to move lanes quickly because some one was drifting out of their lane, and into some snow and ice. guessing the kj got hold of a block of ice pretty hard. . .

Once I get the KJ in the air and tire off i will be able to see the total extent of the damage.

How old are the struts and springs? You may want to replace both sides at the same time if old. If fairly new, no big issue just do that side (with the same springs and struts) unless you go with different strut and spring abilities, then do both.

Check those tie rods too...just i case.

Sounds like another person used antisieze on the strut.I had that same thing happen on mine while doing 75mph on I-90 a few years ago from a idiot using antiseize instead of locktite.

Looks like she drove through a machine shop. All that crap in there looks like lubricant and metal dust. I know its not, but it looks like it.

looks like either the shaft of the strut snapped or the clevis bushing blew up...

IMO..The shock bend double or broke out of it's base, due to the hard impact. That simple. Maybe exteded bumpstops would have helped to prevent this from happening.

The skyjacker stuff has the shock upside down, so the 'weakest' part is on the clevis...

I had to do a double-take on that one. Does that mean the only thing holding the clevis fork straight is the joint between that end cap and the piston rod? Oi. no wonder it broke. I'd take the torsional rigidity of the tube-end for a solid clamping location any day.

Yes thats it, Skyjackers are upside down (sort of) from what we see in stock / OME/ Ranchos etc.
