I would have to agree. I have the standard 245/75s and in certain conditions they still rub with 2.5" of lift

Well the jeep dealer is putting on my new 245/75/16 MTR's today and im bone stock so well see how bad it is, I'll take some pic of what we have to cut. Im going to a 2.5" daystar soon but im rolling the dice with these untill then. havent seen any pics of a stock KJ with 245/75's yet. The 245's are 30.5" tall the 255/70's are 30.1" , im also throwing my bet to the rubbing with the lift is becasue your tucking the tires in due to the geometry of a IFS, so maybe it wont rub at stock height. Either way they are going on there and I'll have pictures tonight.

I'm surprised a Jeep dealership agreed to put 245/75s on a stock vehicle. Lots of tire shops won't even do that due to the liability of it. It's very surprising that a dealer is doing it.

Anyway...congrats on the new tires! They are going to shred your KJ to bits, but once you trim your plastic away to make room for them you'll love 'em!

I know I expected that much with the triming, I got the tires for free... long story, think I covered it in the general discussion forum. I should have the Daystar lift on with in a few weeks so it wont be bad for long. Well I guess I'll see once its lifted if I have any contact. The triming doesnt bother me though. I hope it wasnt a bad idea putting them on first, just how it worked out with them being free and all. And as far as jeep is concered it was the tech who wanted to see if they would fit or not, thought it would be funny to see a liberty with big tires, guess they havent seen any yet...

A free set of MT-Rs? You can't beat that! First thing you should do is take them out and get them muddy! :)

I'm guessing that they won't fit without the pinchweld being pounded over. Then you still have the front bumper area to contend with without the lift. Swaybar rub is normal even with a lift and 245/75's.

Have the tech do one of the front's first for a test fit.

Have plans for mudding Thursday, Will have pic of the stock height and the MTRs tonight for ya so we can laugh at how low this thing is stock. I have to sell a computer this week and then I can buy the daystar and also I might have my custom made boulder bars on by next week, 5/8" square tube stock looks like it'll work nicely welded to the frame, have I mentioned this is a lease yet, LOL

Katmandu, sounds like you might have a bit of rubbing after all huh?

No. Not "yet". :?

I have a set of 255/70-16s REVOs on my 98 Explorer. Contemplating swapping them over to my wife's Renegade. 8)

That's an awesome looking Liberty you put together there! I need to research this 2.5" Daystar Liftkit you got on it. 1st I have to convince the wife since it's "her" truck!

Are you AD Military ??

I'm recently Retired USAF myself. Image

Thanks for the compliment on the Libby, I'll be sure to tell the wife. It's hers, I drive the darn Focus. As a matter of fact, the Libby is in right now over the weekend at the dealer. The head mechanic has it up on the hoist with half the undercarrige torn apart. He's using the same stuff as Rhino Liner on the WHOLE undercarrige, every square inch that you can imagine. Once I get it back, it's time for the mud pits. (If I can get a few minutes of a break from school.)
No, I'm not AD any more. I was for 4 years though. I was a bearer of the sword for our great nation then. Now I'm a bearer of the shield.

Wow too funny I have a Focus as well but I bought the KJ CRD to tow the Focus to and from the race tracks. You are not a memeber of Focal Jet as well are you? Almost retired from the USAR 25 more months but I ma a GS now. 13 years active. I would like to see the 255/70/16 on a stock CRD as well, where are the photos?

Here are pictures of my CRD when it was bone stock except for the 255/70R16 Bridgestones. I had zero rubbing on-road and minor rubbing off road. They are actually smaller diameter than a 245/75R16, just wider.

And here I am with a 2.0 inch spacer lift and boulder bars installed:

Hope this helps in your planning for your Jeep.
