Ok My jeep went into limp home mode and I pulled a code P0605 TCM rom error. Anyone know of what to look for other than just replace the TCM?

Did it stay in Limp mode? - most of the time they reset if you turn it off/on

No still stuck in limp mode. I have also found there are two limp modes, one is an engine limp mode that retards the motor and the other is a transmission limp mode where the trans only goes into 2nd and 3rd gear and the TC will not lock up. I have the second one and the code will not clear.

Chris, welcome to the forum. Sorry this was your first post.

Clear the code in the ECU, disconnect the negative battery cable and allow it to sit 30+ minutes, then try again.

Any other symptoms at the time? Have you checked the connections at the TCM and the trans?

So far I have cleared all the codes, disconnected the battery cable, unpluged, inspected, and reseated the connectors on both the PCM and TCM. I am going to check the conection on the trans today. I guess the next thing I need to check is the ground location for the TCM and PCM. Does anyone a pictures or diagram where they are? I found a rebuilt TCM online for around 200 preprogramed and tested.

Where did you find the TCM? If they have the ability to produce pre-F37 TCM's they may be in for a lot of business from forum members here. . .

Check the wiring harnesses closely, particularly behind the fuel filter head, and where the TCM wiring meets the firewall. Some owners have had trouble with sharp edges scraping off insulation, causing shorts. It could be that simple, with a TCM replacement being unnecessary.

Last pic in this write-up is a good picture of one of the trans controller harnesses at the transmission itself: http://liberty.eurekaboy.com/transgo.htm
