Random question... it it common to notice an increase in mpg's after installing a locker? I just got my Detroit Locker installed on Saturday and since then my avg. mpg's have gone from 15.2 to 15.9 idk if its the locker or if im all the sudden just driving slower.

you're probably just taking it easier on the throttle than usual

now if it went from 15 to 20 and you were still runnin around stompin down on it and raising general cain, then the answer would probably be yes but only due to a defective condition in the prior diff

supprising what taking it easier/slower turning out of parking lots etc will do :)

I totally think it is because you are taking it easier on coming out of corners as said before.

did you put new bearings and axle seals in there while you installed it? maybe just correcting the gear mesh and new bearings would help that little bit also

when i lifted my jeep and put the 235-85-16 mud tires on it, vs the 245-70-16 general grabbers, i gained a couple mpg's on the highway. now i get 18highway and abouit 14-15city woohoo! lol

hope you enjoy your Detroit Locker, i have had mine in for over 2 years with ZERO issues. honestly, it was the BEST and most NOTICABLE mod i have done to my jeep yet, even better than the lift and tires. made the biggest change/difference offroad in getting traction.

ahhhhh. i did indeed change out my bearings, but i didnt change the fluid type. Im thinkin the bearings and me driving like a granny now are the culprit to this increase of mpg's

i really doubt the bearings would make a difference.its not like they were bad, or as if they could get dry like wheel bearings. its probably just a difference in driving :)
