You know, for those that wonder if they should wheel or not, all I`ve got to say is two words: HELL YEAH! What does it matter if it`s just after you bought it or 6 months down the road? Same end effect.

Wheeling is really fun. It`s a total blast. You are missing out of alot of stuff if you don`t. The new friends, the good times, the stories of the days wheeling. Man, it`s something you just can`t replace. I`ve had many fun times with members of the Mid Atlantic chapter. We have gone to Paragon, Rausch Creek, George Washington National Forest, several jeep shows, etc. Many memories of great times.

Or, you can not offroad it and stay home and not have all those memories of goodtimes... :P j/k Offroad it or not, you still are cool because you have a Liberty. Do what you feel is best for you.

Mike

As I've told you before, I waited about a year and a half (and what a long wait it was). I also went out three times as a passenger before I took my own out. Learned a lot. I also got into an accident before it went out (got it fixed, but it still counts as a first scratch). By the time I got out, it was a little more confident. I think that's the main thing, feeling confident. If you're too inexperienced, you might break something, but if you have some confidence, it's a little easier. Don't worry about the scrathes though, they will buff out. Just enjoy it!

I took mine camping this weekend and this was primitive in Greenridge State Park, MD. She got pretty muddy and handled so well on those back roads up and down the mountain, orv trails. I was sure I beat her up a bit, but having so much fun :) My Rene did better than any truck on those roads. But no scratches! I was sure I would get my first one there as I slid past a few trees and made a good many rocks fly. I love how my Rene handles out there! I'm still very much a newbie to all this, but boy have I been missing out, I can't wait for my next adventure!

Indy,

Your nuts... Curious about any damage when your front end returned to earth ? As for the new libby thing, 2 days old i slammed a rock and sent my Mopar rock rail 3 inches up into the plastic cladding and bent the %$#@ out of the control arm tower on the same obstacle. Having only 100 miles on the odometer it made me sick to my stomach, but wore off after a day. This weekend its going to Paragon with about 3,000 miles and i cant wait. And this may be all in my head but ive noticed, i think, that two coats of fresh wax can prevent/lessen damge from scratches due to a harder and more friction free surface, and if nothing else it makes it easier to clean off the mud.

LOL, yeah that's what the wrangler boys said to. To get over the crest I knew I would have to launch the front end up and over else I would high center. Just gave it a little too much throttle i guess. She held up perfectly, but some of the mud scooping on approach did loosen the front bumper a bit. This was all STOCK mind you. Now with my lift I have a MUCH better approach angle. Bumper is just fine, a little scratched up, but I'll be putting on an ARB or something in the Fall anyway.

Sorry about your 100 mile Jeep experience, ouch!

Indy,

I had mine out 1 month to the day @ Jeepfest and did the obstacle course. All the kids where saying i wouldnt make it, but i did...with some rock rail and skid scratches...Then i went out two days over Labor Day weekend, and got a few pin strips that buffed out anyway...All before the first payment... :D

My first dent (rocker panel) happened with my stock black renegade.

A lift, bigger tires and some boulders bars later, the only dent that has been put in my libby happened after we moved. Darn property pole jumped into the middle of the driveway.

Yeah, there was a lot of finger-pointing by the guys with lifted 10 and 20 year old TJs with big tires as I drive by in my stock KJ with the temporary tag still on the back out at the local ORV area.
