Just spoken to Airflow (the manufacturers) and my KJ should be going for the initial fitting and mould making in a couple of weeks. I'll keep you posted as stuff happens.

So, who's actually interested in getting a snork?

Some of us US types would be happy to toss a little money in for one of those and I'm not afraid of the FedX charge solong as it makes it to Texas. :D

Since you guys drive on the wrong side of the vehicle  , will you make sure they look into making them for the other side also? I guess research would be needed to determine if it is worth it (sales being big enough).

I would imagine it's got to go on the right hand side of the vehicle (our driver's side, your passenger side) since that's where the air box and intake are.

Even if the shipping charges were around $180? AirFlow recently started shipping out the new XJ snorkels, and they are running $255 plus $100-180 to ship from Australia. I have had my hands on the first US prototype XJ AirFlows, and they are a nice setup, but that kind of shipping for some plastic...OUCH! Just something to keep in mind. I have nothing against snorkels and a KJ with a snorkel would look pretty cool, but just wanted to inform you guys of what the shipping on these things are running. If a vendor bought up a pallet of these things to distribute around the states, that would probably help prices, but I don't know of any distributors that would purchase 50 KJ snorkels at once.

To be fair, it's not the manufacturers of the <insert product here> that are causing the shipping cost to be high, generally they don't make a bean on shipping, it's simply what FedEx/UPS/DHL/etc charge.

Diff guards (or rock sliders!) cost a fortune to ship from the states to Oz, presumably because of the weight. Snorkels will probably cost quite a bit to ship from Oz to the US, since I guess the box they go in will be quite big.

As the snorkel doesn't actually exist yet it's kind of a moot point, but once they are available I'm sure everyone will do everything they can to make shipping as cost effective as possible.

Thats why I'm lucky enough to have a cousin who owns a Import/Export Comany in Vancouver. Shipping should be really cheap for me.

I think I know of a guy that is fond of reptiles in CO that could do it LOL. Of course, most likely only a few of us would gladly pay the money to get the darn things.

Hmm, a mysterious reptile boy eh?

Anyway.

Assuming these snorkels get made (as I'm sure they will) and that it's possible to somehow get them over the sea to the USofA; is the only difference between your KJs and ours, as far as the mounting of a snorkel goes anyway, that we've got turn indicators things where you've got your radio aerial?
