So I just saw the add for this in the JP magazine. Anyone running it and what do you think about it? I currently have a rusty's spacer lift and am looking to upgrade. The ride is just too ruff. We all know the skyjacker name... Comments?

I *had* that lift installed. It rides pretty good, but I had lots of problems with it. I actually took it off in favor of the Frankenlift. The Frankenlift is great. I would recommend that or Rusty's coil lift.

I am running with this lift and have not had any problem with it. I make it work at least once a month and it is happy to do it.

Yeah, it flexes and rides well...just watch your ball joints. If they contact the spring you'll have to fashion up some bumpstops to keep them from eventually disintegrating.

skyjump, how do you think it would be with Jeepal's upper control arms? They are a bit longer and also at a better angle for a lift. Just another idea.

I have his arms and they definitely work well with the Frankenlift. I bet they would help.

Thanks for the reply skyjump. I kind of thought they might, from what I've read that you mentioned about the skyjacker lift. Just curious though, which one would you go with now, with jeepal's contro arms? Do you think that you would have stayed with the skyjacker lift?

Nope. As a result of that lift I have had to replace one CV and both upper control arms at a cost of $500 and several hours of my time. No way was I keeping that on my rig.

I will never buy another SJ product...it is a customer service issue more than anything. The first lifts they produced were simply too high (4") and they tore up CV joints and UBJs. When I asked for my $$$ back they said it was a problem with my particular Jeep and literally took to ignoring me until I finally had to take action via a lawyer and the BBB (that got results though  ). Oddly enough, neither of the two lifts I have since run have caused any problems so I highly doubt it was just my Jeep causing the issues.

It eventually came to light that they indeed had many of the same issues on their test rig. They were actually running limiting straps but failed to tell their customers about that bit of useful info. Based on some of the more recent Jeeps lifted with that kit I think they have lowered it by as much as an inch. So it truly is more of a 2.5-3" kit at this point.

Yes I do have the UBJ contact and I am going to get on the group buy for the arms so that I can get the alingment right and don't have to worry about the UBJ being destroyed. So far (knock on wood) I have not had a problem.

Funny thing, I have one of those "first" lifts and never had the problems you and that other dude had. Never had a problem with their customer service either come to think of it, guess I just get lucky that way.

Yeah, every company has good customer service until something goes wrong and you actually need service...then you find out it isn't there. But seeing as you didn't have any problems...

Seems like most of the newer ones are problem free as well. BTW, it was more than just me and one other "dude." I know back in the day the Lost West guys tested this lift out and came up with the same results as me. Of course there is another guy here locally that has faired well with the lift. It is all over the map and that's what's maddening.

Moral of the story? If you get a good one you're set and if not then good luck dealing with SJ when you want your $$$ back...

I'm convinced every Jeep has it's own idiosyncracies, that includes mods that work on one and not another LOL. :D

Back to the original thread topic:

If you want, you can take a drive in my KJ and we'll compare my Rusty's coil lift to your spacer lift. I would think any spacer lift is gonna ride worse than any spring lift since you're replacing springs and shocks instead of just forcing it to ride higher.as

I've been EXTREMELY happy w/Rusty's. I get a very good amount of flex (RMI was 701 or something) and no UBJ contact.
