Would the key with the ugly black thing and the unlock/lock button and panic and rear window button be my problem...... usually when I fill up the gas tank or go from store to store my Liberty doesnt start up right away... would the key battery being low make my Jeep not start or would that have nothing to do with the starting of a vehicle? I am aggravated that I cannot think why it would not start it turns and sounds like its gonna start but then it just goes nothing.... any help would be greatly appreciated

OK, (bites lip) it sounds to me like you have air in your fuel head....the thing in the engine bay that the fuel filter screws onto. Read up on here, do a search for the way to bleed the air out. This is common and fear not. This should take care of your issues.

he doesn't say its a diesel engine or gas. Could be air in the fuel manager head if its a CRD, if its a gas engine then its something else. does the starter engage at all? when you try to start it is there a clicking noise under the hood when it won't start? if so you may need a starter seliniod.

Good catch. I am always in knee jerk reaction leaning towards a CRD. He has a gas burner since he said gas instead of fuel.

When the battery on my 'Big black key' was dying - it would unlock the Jeep - but not turn off the alarm...... so it starts acting weird.

but once it starts - either the key code is right and it runs or the key code is wrong and it turns off after about 10 sec.

If the Jeep battery is old it can also generate problems
it may have enough current to turn the starter - however if it doesn't have enough voltage to turn on the computer - it will turn off as it switches from the start circuit to the run circuit.

wouldn't hurt to have the battery stress tested.

To answere your original question, NO a weak remote battery will not cause the jeep to be hard to start  There's a chip in the key (with or witout the remote) that reacts with the imobolizer. If that chip is not programmed for your car or is bad the jeep will start but shut off in like 2 or 3 seconds.

I bought a blank key without the buttons to use when I expect to get wet. Like when washing the jeep or are at the beach. Word or warning. If you have 2 working keys you can have a third cut and then you program it yourself :-)r But if you only have one working key the second will be a expensive trip to the dealer. But I understand SOME, not all, lock shops can program a second key for you. My blank on flea bay was was $20 and a local shop cut it for NC since I went to him first and he couldn't do it :D Support your local independent first :SOMBRERO:
