One more question.. Would the ORM (during off road) disable the coolant from flowing through these hoses and also stop the oil leak? Or does the coolant still run through even though the EGR is not being used? (during off road use)

Also I just installed the EHM (for off road use).. will that keep the oil from going through the EGR? Is the oil leak from the EGR from blow-by or is the EGR valve itself actually oiled?

I guess what I am asking in a nutshell is will the ORM and EHM solve part of the problem?

It won't solve the coolant leak, unfortunately. The coolant is a closed system seperate from the others.

I was thinking the same thing.

I just meant that I feel better because I am confident enough to do it myself now with all the information provided. I didn't wan't to take it to the dealer.

it is not going to be easy to get to, that is for sure

I am also glad because I can hook my EHM back up and do the ORM again (during off road use). Don't want the dealer to make the wrong assumption. Stinkin EGR! If it wasn't there I wouldn't be leaking coolant!! :banghead:

What would happen if the dealer saw the EHM or the ORM? Is it really a big deal?

Definitely don't want the dealer to see an EHM, it's for "off-road use only." Ahem. As for the ORM, Plugging the MAF back in and clearing the code for it is no big deal.

I also think its the EGR from looking at the pictures...

I have the same oil coming from mine as you do in these pics... both sides, so I guess I have a small leak. I I cleaned off the oil in the fall and its back now, not as bad but I do have the CCV relocated now. Did you replace with aftermarket or OEM intercooler? THanks!

Make sure the oil is not coming from the intercooler itself. I had a small hole in my factory intercooler.

Sorry, I think I missed your question earlier. I replaced it with an OEM intercooler. As much as I looked I don't think
there is an after market intercooler available for our jeeps. I pressure tested it to above the factory 22psi right out of
the box to ensure there are no leaks.

So I decided to tear into the CRD over the weekend and here's what I found:

Image
I think I'll give it a tug and see what happens

Image
oops :dead:

Image
Got a foot of 1/4" ID hose from Auto Zone.. trimmed to fit

Image

I had to remove the fuel filter assembly to get to the hose clamps. I used my flexible drill extension to get to them. By using it I avoided having to remove the intake elbow, etc.

now that I have seen what a PITA this is to do, I can see why the dealer charges $200+ to do it.
It's an easy couple hrs. @ $100 per hr.

Where is the other end of the hose going to? Can this hose be eliminated if the EGR is in ORM? Can that whole assembly be removed for ORM? All you did to get that access was remove the fuel filter?

I had the same leak as far as I could tell. I removed the fuel filter and changed it while I was there. My CRD is even harder because I have a Vegetable oil filter that is mounted between the battery and the diesel filter that is wrapped in the coolant line. So I removed the battery also, and placed the coolant lines there, kinda!

I knew the coolant line from the EGR were bad when I could not get pliers on the hose clamps so I reached down with my fingers and squeezed the clamps and they moved! That was all I needed to get the pliers on and pull them off. I pulled the one hose off, with my feet hanging off the radiator support and a flashlight in the other hand. Then I had to cut the other three hose ends off with a pocket knife, my razor knife just keep falling off the sides.

I jacked up the vehicle and got under and looked at the EGR for about 5 minutes...if I remvoed those two bolt and undid that clamp I could take this whole thing off. First I would have to take off the starter...then ... then.

So I removed the jack stand and lowered the Jeep down and got my milk crate back and climbed back in the engine bay and installed the two pieces of 5/16 hose and used screw type hose clamps. All the parts where availible in my car port. So I did not spend any money. It will take me a week or two to realize if it worked. While I had the cover off the engine I removed the MAP sensor and it looked just like it did 25k miles ago when I cleaned it. I guess the ORM worked.
