I have a 2005 Renegade and trying to remove the roof rails. I saw an old post on here to just pry up the black plasitc part that connects the rail to the roof. This didn't seam to work...didn't want to break the plastic.
Can anyone confirm that this is the correct way to remove them?
Thanks

It can be a little scary the first time, I actually chunked mine up slightly.

Safest way is to get 3-4 screwdrivers, thin ones and thick ones. They split down the middle at the seam, though one has a lip that goes under the other one. Work your thinnest screwdrivers in gently wherever you can, and then work a bigger one in behind it. Basically just gradually pry the 2 apart. But yes the outer portions come off, and the inner halves are bolted down.

Thanks Boiler! I was doing it wrong... I saw the seam but thought it pried up from the bottom...now that I think about it for a second there is absolutely no way what I was trying to do would work. Ill give it a shot tonight. Going all black like nightrider

For the fronts you have to have your doors open also

I have found that making a couple wraps with electrical tape around any of the tools that you are using for prying helps save the plastic.
