I did a search - but I couldn't find what I needed...

Image

Does anyone know the part number for the pulley for the tensioner (#5 idler on the diagram)? Or do I need to replace the whole unit? It's whining really bad and I want to order the part tomorrow from the dealership.

Thanks for they help!

So when you get a CRD?

That is the pic of the 2.8 CRD engine, not the 3.7 V6.

Any auto supply would have it. Probably cheaper too.

You only go to the dealer, if it's a dealer only item! Otherwise, use local part stores.

For the 3.7 only

Goodyear Gatorback Belt Tensioner Assy p/n 49246.
Goodyear Gatorback multi-groove serp belt p/n 4060875.
Goodyear Gatorback Idler (only) p/n 49001 (incase you just want the idler).

But I agree with tjkj2002 - Just get the whole assy, and consider replacing the belt while you're at it. You can always save the old belt for a emergency back-up.

Here's the correct picture for an 06 Liberty;
Image

When the tensioner failed on my 04 Liberty the dealership replaced it along with the belt & water pump (gotta love those extended service warranties :D )

The Mopar part numbers are 53030958AE Tensioner, 53013905AA Belt.

I got a Federal Mogul unit from the local NAPA. Price was ok, easy to replace in the driveway.

I replaced both pulleys and now I need to replace the whole unit. Instead of having $60 in it I now have $100 :banghead:

once you get one, you just relieve the tension on the belt, slip the belt out of the way, remove the one bolt that holds on the tensioner assembly and put on the new one

naturally it's recommended to put on a new belt

The OEM EPDM belt is about $100 for the 3.7/4.7.Gates makes another great belt which also is EPDM.Gaterbacks and dayco's are junk and just don't last.
