The oil drain plug on my CRD has a large torx fitting to unscrew it instead of a hex head. I stripped the torx fitting out trying to unscrew the SOB this evening and wanted to know if this is the oem plug or if it has been replaced by the previous owner. I think I can get the plug out by using vise grips on the shoulder of the plug but obviously I need to get a new one before I try it. I'll try to get a pic of what I got going on but its dark out. Any help would be apreciated.

You can get a hex head replacement from your dealer.

Clarification: The original factory drain plug was an allen key style. However, you can buy much more useable hex head plug from your dealer as a superceded part.

I would be fairly certain that any Auto parts Zone should have the plug, I went and got new gaskets an oil change ago.... but I don't know if they have a listing, best bet is to take in the plug you have.

Order a Fumoto valve, and when it gets in, Use the vise-grips and trash the old plug. I love my Fumoto.

Thanks for the help everyone, I picked up a new plug at dealership they had it in stock(awesome) and charged me $24 for the plug and a new copper gasket(not awesome) Autozone didn't have a part listed for the crd plug and i couldn't match it to any because that would require removing old one first and its to darn cold to ride the motorcycle if I couldn't find a match right away.

WOW $24 the Fumoto is less than that. Darn stealers!

Really? Both of mine have hex heads on them, not sure of the size? Hmm, wonder if the dealers replaced the Allen plug?

Yep. I got mine new in May 06. Before responding I went to the drawer were that sort of stuff is "stored" and found the allen key that fit. Have you switched to Fomoto valves yet? It's possible that both of yours were stripped and retapped
