I have a 06 sport that came with 16x7 alloy wheels. Was thinking about running 31x10.50x15s. Seems like I read that you can use 15 inch steel wheels but not 15 inch alloys due to caliper clearance. Is there any truth to this?

I have personally tried 8 different manufactures 15" Aluminum wheels. They all RUB the Caliper. Come too the Steel wheel DarkSide......

Cant you spidertrax spacers to clear that issue? Even thought its not really safe bc your wheel will be sticking pretty far out depending on the BS of the alloy wheel

Spacers will allow them to fit just fine. I have 15x8 alloy wheels from a Wrangler. They have 5.5" backspacing, and 1" spacers. This should be the same as a wheel with 4.5" backspacing.

Yep, I run standard alloy 15x7 with 5.5 bs for a TJ using 1.25 spidertrax spacers, no problems. Its a good combo, except for the having to use spacers bit  . But it does work.

X2 steelies.

You'll pay less for 5 15x7 softies than for a set of spacers. And it's safer too.
