Hello

My name is TJ im 16 and have just got a 2004 jeep kj sport 3.7L with a standard transmition. I need some ideas from more experianced kj owners on how to make this a better wheeler i and young so i dont have much money to spend on it but if you have ideas i would love to hear them. I also am in a advanced welding class and i want to make something for my jeep if you have ideas i would love to hear about them also. I live in a small town in wyoming so there is not many places to wheel but i would like to go some where this summer to have some fun with my kj.

Thank you for reading this i hope to hear your ideas soon.

They bolt to the pinch weld under the doors and the the frame. There should be some pics and drawings in the fab section.

x2 on the above

rock rails would be an excellent project for a welding class, get some wood or cardboard and kind of build a stencil while laying on the ground under your jeep to get the measurements how you want and your leveling and dimensions

Well lets see, on your very limited budget I suggest you replace the stock 205/75R16 all season tires with some AT's.
If you put a lift under your Libby you'll be able to get 245/75R16 tires under it, 31" tall tires is pretty much the max unless you spend big bucks and replace the front axle.

A solid proper lift can easily cost you $1000 but a spacer lift with extended bumpstops may cost you $100. A Liberty isn't designed for rock crawling or mud bogging but you can still have a lot of fun with it.

Oh and regarding the Liberty's poor gas mileage...sorry...none of us can help you there. Most of us are still getting 20-24 MPG.

i get around 16-20mpg maybe cuz mines stick haha but i bought it with a 21/2in lift and goodyear wrangler 31in tires and 16in Richard cepek rims but that stuff came with it when we bought it. it has 63000 miles but it will last me a long time i have gone mudd boging alot cuz thats rally the only thing fun to do in wyoming with any kind of jeep. but thanks for the idea haha

Welcome to L.O.S.T. Hey if you ever come up towards Cody let me know. There are a lot of really good trails around here. One other thing you could make is a roof rack.
