I have no doubt that, given the NuKaiser concept's arrival and Chrysler's new ownership wanting to capitalize on what they (rightly) see as the crown jewel of their Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep purchase, that we'll be seeing a production Jeep pickup very soon. Look at the NuKaiser: looks to have a JK interior, off-the-shelf JK doors/door handles and even an AEV-sourced bed (IOW, a supplier's already available.) Take off the front clip and replace it with something very close to the JK's and I think you'll see what's coming in a year or so.

After all, look at how close the JK design was to the Gladiator's basic framework. The Jeep concept team do seem to enjoy hiding things in plain sight.

Back to the subject of this thread, my favorite Jeep Concepts, in order are:

1. Dakar
2. Gladiator
3. Rubicon King/Lower Forty (tie)
4. Compass (the original, which SHOULD have been the inspiration for an incredible rallye Jeep)
5. Liberator

Has anyone else noticed that when Jeep shows a new concept vehicle, more often than not it seems to have a diesel powerplant? Yet none make it to production (for the US market) with the diesel?

Where are we going, and why are we in this handbasket?

Well, the 2.8 has so far proven an evolutionary dead end here. They knew going in it was DOA and was probably a marketing study for the V6 CRD. With the connections to the MB diesel gone now, do they have anything ready for this market? I am certain that no Fiat design has fed. certification for this market.

bingo. Also remember this is the US. We haven't embraced the diesel like the rest of the world.

Well at least they are trying, garnering interest by producing concepts with diesels. I just wish it wasn't only a tantalizer for the US market. I think if Jeep offered a diesel in the JK, like they did for the Liberty, they would sell more than they might expect - but they better be ready and able to back up service and repair on them better than they support the KJ and WK CRD.

I was watching an off-roading show on TLC/Discovery/Nat Geo (or something like that) that featured three Jeeps and a Land Rover. They were out testing new parts and concept vehicles.

One of the Jeeps was a newer Truck concept. It was a blue Wrangler based truck. I thnk it was called the "Beast" or something like that. It was really awesome. I wish I could remember the show.

Finally found it!!!

The show is called "Dangerous Drives - Extreme Off Roaders". It airs on SpeedTV.

It originally aired on 3/24/10

The next airtime is 5/2/10 @ 12:00-1:00am and 4:00-5:00am.

"A team of adventurers treks across inhospitable deserts from Arches National Park in Utah to the to the dried out lake bed of the Sevier Lake, once the floor of a prehistoric inland sea that later became the Great Salt Lake."

Overland Journal does a 5 day winter run through Moab with snow and flash floods, etc... testing some AEV (American Expedition Vehicles - aka Jeep upgrades) vehicles such as Dave Yegge’s Blue HEMI powered Brute and the newest AEV development and testing vehicle, AEV’s “Savegre” JK with the new VVT HEMI. and a Range Rover trying out new off-road vehicles/parts.

Little more info here...

I saw the Brute on AEV's website when I was checking out the J8 link posted on the first page. I like it. Looks like if you have a TJ, it is a kit you can install or just buy a ready-made one from them. However, that blue one looks like it's on a longer wheelbase than a regular TJ - maybe an Unlimited?

However, I'd want it with a Cummins 4bt, not a Hemi. . . .
