I have a problem with my O/D. When I'm on the road and push the O/D off to rev a little higher when I tow something, the transmission gears down for a second and then gears up to O/D even if the light ''O/D off'' is ON. What's the problem? How can I fix it?

When you depress the OD off button, it will unlock the converter to shift. It will not shift locked to locked.

So, it unlocks, shifts down to drive, then locks. the RPM drop from unlocked to locked can be quite large, making it feel like it is shifting up to OD.

With my 02, at 55mph, the rpms in Drive locked is less than that of OD unlocked by 200.

The looser the converter, the more dramatic locked will be.

If you have the OD off, what are your RPM at 70MPH? With OD on, what are the RPM at 70MPH?

The problem is that 3 months ago, it doesn't do that. When I pushed O/D off, it stayed in DRIVE and the RPM was about 600-700 rpm more in D vs O/D. But now, even when I push O/D off, it gears down for 2-3 second and if I don't go ''Wide open throttle'', it returns into O/D.
