Ok so after I got the new 245's I was driving how I always do down the highway keeping with traffic and passing as normal all around 70-80MPH. All though I notice now with the newer tires I have issues with the ESP kicking in while accelerating into the 80MPH range. It never did this with the old smaller tires, I guess that the bigger tries are just making the sensor go off due to the difference in rotation speed to the engines RPMs maybe this is a calculated matrix that the truck now has no idea about casue of the new tire size? I really am guessing here, I have never seen a car with ESC or ETC have this issue once you change the tire size one way or the other. Is anyone else having this issue, should I might just take it back and have the speedo recalibrated? or will that do nothing? I thought that ESP kicks in when there is a loss of traction and the truck strats to lose grip on one wheel? I know it works on dirt roads really well, but on the highway, and I know that the 2.8L doesnt have the gutts to spin them huge arse tires @ 80mph.... Any thoughts on this?

Since your CRD is bone stock as it states in your signature. Im curious to know how much rubbing you have? as well what wheels are you using.

I had a whole post up on this, with pics. On the street no rubbing at all... most the time, nothing really to worry about, on the trail, if I hit "woopty-doos" or any other uneven areas whent the wheels come in the wells.... it can geta little loud with the sound of plastic being smacked around.

Tn - Im sure youll get to see what Im talking about if I dont have the lift on by next week. BUt hasnt stoped me yet, here in FL there isnt too many places to worry about with the whole "rough" terrain. They work great in the sand and mud.

They are just Wrangler MTR's 245/75/16's But the dealer gave them to me for free and they said they would warrenty it still and I have the life time tire and wheel protection anyways so...

Really looks worse than it is. I drive at least 50 miles a day on these on the street and have no issues.


But nobody has any idea about the ESP thing?

No clue on the ESP thing. Sorry. That's really strange and not a good thing for future 06 mods. Imagine getting a lift and some good O.R. meats and then having the ESP chime in every second.

I suppose you could just turn it off, but that kinda seems counterproductive. I like the idea of recalibrating the speedo, but it's not cheap and it really "shouldn't" effect the ESP. Since the dealer put those tires on, I believe I'd take it to them and tell them what was going on.

Yeah Im thinking that the tires might just vibrate too much at higher speeds and may cause the sensors in the ESP system to read a traction issue, I have now started to just shut the dang thing off when Im going down the fast lane. It only happens from about 75mph to 80-83 after that the ESP calms down. seems like it could just be a wave vibration from the speed and the nobbyness of the tires making the sensor go off. Untill the ESP blows up and locks the wheels and flips my truck and kills me I wont worry about it LOL
