What's the possibility of doing measurements from center-of-the-hub-to-fender flare? That will give a better idea of how much lift it will give, and tell you if you have any asymmetry in the stance.

These are all taken from the middle of the hub.

That would mean you're 10" higher than a Frankenlift - or equal to some of the SFA's

most folks are measuring around 18.5" center of hub to fender edge stock, about 20.5" with OME only and 23 with Frankenlift or extra clevis + spacers.
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=43472

I'm guessing it a little lower than OME - probably due to the progressive spring - the OME is 500lb/in straight

It does look good though - but now you need bigger tires... it never ends.....

Ah ok I understand now, you want me to START messurement from the center hub not pass through it. OK yes I can get this tomorrow.

No actually I cannot go any bigger without rubbing or cutting, this I will not do. If anything I will use spacers or get completely different rims and change the back spacing. I have 245/70/16 now. I would love to have 33-12.50 on it but it will not happen. it will remain my DD and trailer hauler till I can afford something else with a european diesel in it.

OK this was way more fun than I had expected. I have a question and only a question.

What would it it take to get 12.50-14.50 15 inch tires under the KJ CORRECTLY? I want ot get the shortest tire under it without having to go with high sidewall tires. :(

You talking about low-pro street tires in a 12.5" to 14.5" track width with a 15" diameter rim?

Sell the KJ and buy a car.Anyways the shortest tire with a 12.50" width and fits on a 15" rim(and DOT legal) is going to be a 33" tire, lots of sidewall on a 15" rim also, and no your not going to fit a 33" tire under a KJ without some heavy modifications. To fit a 14.50" wide tire you will have to go SFA with at least 8" of lift and full width axles or rims with 1" or less of back spacing on standard width axles.

LOL low profile, no. I am not looking to go with 36" but stay around 31 or 32" if possible. Maybe a 15X10 rim. I am just pondering ideas and see if I really would want to commit to the install. Giving up on th eKJ CRD is not an option unless I trade it in on a ML 320 CDI.

I did it myself, it was very easy. All the tools I had excpet for the lift. I did the work at the Quantico Auto Hobby Shop. I change my oil at the Ft Belvoir Auto Hobby Shop. Shop/lift time was $30.

Your going to need much more then 1.5" of lift to even be able to turn a 10" rim in the front. Not going to fit a 31" tire unless it's on a OEM KJ rim or a rim that is 7" wide with about 4" of back spacing with the low lift you have.I had 3.75" of lift and took alot of trimming and modifying to make 31.9" tires work(correctly on and offroad) with the proper 7" wide rims with 4.5" of BS.

I know I cannot get 31" tires under the KJ with 1.5" of lift. This is why I am asking what will it take to do it CORRECTLY. I am not looking to go rock crawling or to do truck trials but to get in and out of some rough roads now and again. SFA is out of the question. If I have to go down to 12.50 or 11.50 that is fine. I have been looking up tire and rim sizes and what to know the sizes of lift I need to get to to get certain tires under the KJ.

You will need 3"+ of lift and pound over the pinch welds to run a 235/85R16(32x9.50) tire on the OEM rims, that is the safest bet.Now running 3"+ lift on a CRD can be a issue with the drivers side CV being shorter then the gas version.Anything else and your going to have some major rubbing even just going to the mall.

I run 265/75R16 and rubbing at full stuff is just a part of life. And I've plenty of "clearancing".... you're not going to be able to clear a wider tire than that one without gaining height.

I run 245/70/16 now with no issues, even before the lift. 32x9.5 is completely not what I am looking for. I am going for width not hight.

The widest tires you'll find to fit is a 10.50" wide tire and you'll be rubbing like crazy till you lift your CRD past 1.5".You'll hate life with a 12.50" wide tire.Just remember you will see a major drop in mpg's,expect at least 3+ loss.

Yes I understand that I will loose MPG, you want to play you have to pay. You can gain some of this back by using lightweight wheels, you also loose braking distance as well, you cause more wear and tear on many mechanical parts in suspension and drivetrain. I also have to look at gear ratios as well. When all is said and done my limit is $5000 but I would rather do it for around $2500 and it is only and idea running through my head right now. I saw a Isuzu VX the other day with a nice set up of 12.50 or 13.50 on it and really liked the look of it.

22" American Racing RT-S with 265/35/22 Kumhos
however he had problems because he didn't flatten the pinch weld and it cut the tires.

I have seen several of these "types" around, to each their own. I am not a hater.

Hiya Jins, it's been a while.

How are these springs holding up? Any sagging? How do you like them?

Greetz!
