I dunno why, but this guy decided his 2wd could go to an area that was for 4x4s only... plus... it's a ford... not to worry though i saved the day... (even though he insisted on using his chain which made me kinda nervous, not that it would have broke, but if it did that could have been really, really, bad...)

Neat trip. I was thinking that if we had a section where people could post their trip pictures, they would be easier to find by others.

Last time I was at Villano it was nothing but sea shells! No sand at all!
Looks like it was all sand there.

Where are the bikini shots? You are wheelin' on the beach right? :jester:

I have never driven on a beach, I now want to. Looks like you guys had fun. Should have left the Explorer stuck in the sand though.

This looks familiar. "Why do you have to take so many pictures of this jeep. I'm just gonna stare out the window."

If you want a great sandy beach to drive on down here go to Anastasia Island. Just cross over on the Bridge of Lions. There are miles of drivable beach.

fulltimer-- i was actually out there the day before the pics but my cell was dead so i couldn't take pic... and my g/f is cold blooded and it was not sunny that's the reason for no bikini shots, haha thanks 96 xj, i just purchased this a couple weeks ago... << one really long run on... (my g/f is quite envious of my jeep already... she says i spend more time with it than her...)

jeepinjarhead, i know what you mean, i'm from NC though the beaches will open back up when the season is over... or well they usually do near the end of summer, i used to go to KURE beach near Ft. Fisher when i lived up there.

My rule of thumb is if you are doing the pulling you make the calls. If you have a strap with you use that every time over a chain and if the other guy doesn't like it tell 'em they are free to flag someone else down.

Well, its not that i thought the chain would break scooby, it's just... i mean i was sure it was more than enough, it's just that i've always been taught not to use a chain... always use a RECOVERY strap... not a tow strap either... and i just don't like to use new things when something i do/use is tried and true and always gets the job done... but i didnt jerk any so i wasn't worried that the chain would let loose... but you do have a very good point scooby...
