I have a 2002 Liberty Sport with the 3.7 v6, My air conditioner only seems to blow "cold" air when in motion and even then it's only for a short time, then it reverts back to the temperature of the outside air i.e. ambient temp, any info as to why this happens and how to correct it is greatly appreciated as warm weather is knocking on my door here in SC.

Sounds like the system is short on refrigerant, take it to a local shop and have them look at it for ya

ok so I have solved my A/C problem for me it was the A/C Compressor clutch that had to be replaced. Just in case anyone has a problem similar, this may be a logical starting point.

Interesting... what was it just slipping or not engaging?

just slipping, it would engage visibly for about a minute and then cut off. I decided to replace it because I wasn't sure if, or when it might lock up and if that might break the belt or damage the compressor.

Huh, that's interesting 'cause the KJ's compressor does that normally. I would have marked that as a sensor issue. glad you figured it out though.

yeah, i had it checked at a couple of shops one told me, new compressor, one told me, needs refrigerant, and then the dealer told me it was the a/c clutch and so far it seems to have worked.

Were you able to get the clutch by itself or do u have to get a whole new compressor?

yes i was able to get just the clutch, according to the dealer i got the last one they had in stock and that they would be on "national backorder" from then on, although i think that was just a b.s. statement
