Go for it Joe! I have all the vehicles I need for now, and any thing I own on 4 wheels burns oil, and they have alot of oil to burn before I send them down the road. I am sure the wife will like driving your CRD Liberty

In the April 26 issue of Automotive Weekly an article said that Mahindra was finished testing and are now seeking EPA approval. It also mentioned that Mahindra, not the US distributor, does not like to make announcments :?

As long as diesel fumes cause cancer in the state of California, the EPA will always be screwing over the other 49 states. We live in a country of idiocracy laws. Even Dirty Harry knew "Then the law is crazy" 8)

I believe that much is true.

I had my name on the list to test drive one when they came avaliable...... So far I have heard nothing. I wasn't intending to buy one but I thought it would be cool to check one out.

That sucks. I was really hoping for a 1/2 ton domestice PU or a regular 3/4 to replace my old one but in diesel. I wish someone would come out with a straight 6. I need to pull my goose neck and it will get relatively heavy but I mostly need torque not speed.

Is that confirmed or speculation? What is the tow rating for the 4 door?

No. It will haul 1.3 tons of payload in the bed, which is more than any full size 1500 or F150. It will tow greater than 5000lb.

Cosmo.

Thanks for pointing that out for me but they do say the 5000# is "estimated".

On another note I checked for a nearby dealer. There's a total of ONE in Ohio and they are a hundred or so miles away in Cleveland  Hopefully that will change once they are released.

Their overseas versions are rated for more than 5000lbs just like our CRDs are rated for 7000lbs in Europe with the same engine and tranny. The EPA requires manufacturers to underrate their towing capabilities because they produce more "harmful emissions" when under a high load.

"Mahindra says the diesel-electric variants should be here by 2011 (diesel-only variants may arrive as soon as December of 2010). The diesel motor that will be used is Mahindra's new mHawk motor, a 2.2-liter I-4 turbodiesel, which delivers around 150 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque, 5000lb. towing capacity, 2,765lb. carrying capacity.

DFW Mahindra will sell the Mahindra Pickup Truck, also called the Mahindra Diesel, Mahindra Diesel Hybrid, Mahindra Hybrid, Mahindra Truck, Mahindra Trucks or Mahindra Diesel SUV, imported from India, in Dallas, Texas and surrounding areas.

Mahindra’s mid-size trucks and SUVs offer a blend of ruggedness, performance and affordability. They have the largest payload of any compact pickup truck (2,765 pounds)* and an estimated 5,000 pound towing capacity*.
Top it off with a 4-year 60,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and you’ll find that these babies are even more cost-efficient than the best hybrids and are brimming with uncompromising features.

30 MPG* • 4-WHEEL ABS BRAKES • UNIQUE SYYLING • EXTRA LONG CARGO BED • ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL • TRACTION CONTROL • ROLL-OVER MITIGATION • 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION • AM/FM/CD/USB AUDIO SYSTEM

Forget everything you thought you knew about diesel engines.

Turbocharged Mahindra clean diesels provide a power-packed 30 miles per gallon creating benefits beyond any other vehicle in its class.

Mahindra’s common rail diesels are cleaner, quieter, greener and more efficient than ever. Our new generation of clean-burning diesels emit 97 percent fewer sulfur emissions than old-school diesels and virtually no sooty particulates. They produce 30 percent fewer greenhouse gases per mile than gasoline engines – while getting 20 to 40 percent better fuel mileage. And they do it all while maintaining the traditional diesel advantages of more torque and greater durability."
