I have purchased a Autel TP100 code reader. It has a warning that when I erase a code it will clear the "manufactures enhanced data " and reset the I/M readiness status to not ready. Is this a bad thing? It suggests to have a technician check out the system but I bought the code reader to avoid doing that.

Anytime any scanner clears a code the "readyness" code is cleared and if you immediatly take it to be emmission checked it will fail because all the various systems have not been tested and the ready bit will not be set. It takes several drive cycles to set it "ready".

This is normal. What they are saying is why just clear the code how about a fix?
