General Question that I need help with. Do you think when hill climbing and offroading on 2.5-3.0 rated trail having a liberty with the trac-lock system will show a noticable differance vs. not having it, and more importantly why? Thanks for any feedback,

1. Yes, If it makes a diff on-road in wet conditions or at the boat ramp, then it will make a bigger diff off-road. It can make just enough diff between getting past the obstacle or not, especially if its wet, loose gravel, or sand.

2. Its Not the best extra traction device (worst), its still extra traction though

no major difference, no big deal. just keep at a constant speed going up the hill if you can, if you can't take it slow over the rocks placing your tires on the highest traction areas.

2.5-3.0 a locker isn't going to make a that big difference.

I would say, Unless you plan on putting a full locker back there like PowerTrax, then just get the Trac-Loc from the factory, it does help. Almost anything is better than an open diff. Just ask my buddy that has a 90 Explorer 4" suspension and 3" body lift with M/T's that has harder time on some of hills than I do stock, with stock tires and an LSD. In fact, everytime we hit this one hill, we always laugh at him and tell him we are going to start a collection to get him a locker.

Eventhough I can out perform most folks using one of my legs on the sissy trail rating scenerio. Two legs still works better for me

Yes it can make a diff, depending on what is ahead

Mine helped me many times to clear an obstacle with less tire spin than others in our group who didn't have a rear posi or locker. Now at about 36k miles, many of them on trails and it is showing signs of wear and not always working as well as it once did.

Yes it will help. Will help alot in wet, muddy conditions or if climbing over logs. Not all 2.5-3.0 rated trails are the same, it depends on the part of the country you're in as to what you'll encounter.

I had some on-road quirks with my Trac-Lok and I like the KJ much better without it. If you already have a KJ with it in then now problem - it will help. If you're looking at adding it or just deciding what you want on a new KJ then I would say look at your other options, you'll get more bang for the buck.

don't let the trac-loc limited slip be a deal breaker on a KJ you want to buy....the clutches in the trac-loc will eventually wear and the limited slip will loose effectiveness....the additional price you pay for a factory limited slip will go a long way towards paying for a powertrax no-slip.....it's easier to install a power trax no-slip rear locker in a open differential than in a carrier with a trac-loc.....

however, the addition of either type of traction assistance is an enjoyable improvement over the open differential....

my credentials.....I bought a KJ with the off-road package and factory trac-loc limited slip in the rear....it worked fine but I removed it and installed the no-slip....it works great.....
