GDE Keith,
What is the transmission tune? I saw it on the drop down for tune select
I have heard enthusiastic rumors but no word from you guys. I even looked your website over including the forum for information. Of course I could have overlooked it. Where have you described what it does?
My kj is still at the shop for a transmission repair and have no idea of total cost yet.
Would love to do the turbo kit but I will feel lucky to get the tune.
R

Been beta testing their TCM for awhile. It's a fantastic upgrade and I'd highly recommend it. The euro TC is working well with this tune and their turbo kit (by the way, that discount GDE is offering on the turbo kit is quite a deal) with no signs of shudder with TC lockup at these lower rpm's. The TC will stay locked down as low as ~1400 rpm if you stay easy with the fuel pedal. All the lockup rpm's occur lower than stock. The first trip I made with the TCM where I felt the tranny lockup in 3rd, 4th and 5th at the substantially lower rpm's put a big smile on my face.

Ya when the lock comes on at 46 in 4th I grin too.......I have th hot tune and the original TC and I do get the shudder at lower speeds than before.........My new TC is going to be built soon and I should have it in ther in a couple weeks or so...........I may have to do the turbo thing now......I love what I have so far and the turbo would just be the icing on the cake...HJ

What about full throttle? Accerlation 0-70 times? Are those negatively affected by the quicker shifting? Not that we drive like that often, but sometimes you have to.

Don't have any data at this time. However, when doing full fuel accelerations in O/D lockout or regular mode it doesn't "seem" to shift any different than before.

I have been running various iterations of the GDE TCM tune for a couple of months. I have had the version that has just been released for sale for three weeks, now. I consider it virtually perfect for my taste. The TC locks at 35 MPH and stays that way unless you apply 3/4 throttle with the HOT tune. All shifts above 35 MPH are done without even momentarily unlocking the TC. This means keeping the revs down except when you need to apply serious power. Works just right for towing 4-5K, too.

We have seen about a 3.5 MPG improvement over the stock F37 TCM in secondary road driving (i.e. under 55 MPH).

The only drawback is a noticeable increase in engine vibration experienced through the chassis when under 1800 RPM. However, I consider this a good tradeoff in exchange for the improved fuel mileage.

Also, I would not suggest using this with the HOT tune without a "euro" TC.

DOC...that sounds awesome. Keeping the TC locked as much as possible to maximize the benefit of the diesel torque is the way it should have been all along. GDE may have another hit on their hands. Whenever I can scrape together enough money I'll be ordering one.

Please continue to update with your thoughts and information about the real world performance of the tune as you go. Thanks.

I assume from this statement they are locking it in 3rd as well now?

This mod sounds perfect for me since it would enable me to do almost all my commuting in 5th without having to speed.

What with 1-2mpg from the eco tune and the same from proper shifting we are probably talking a 10-15% fuel economy improvement.

It's just a pity Chrysler screwed up in the first place.

So if it's locked, and you let completely off the pedal, does it unlock instantly? Or does it stay locked until the speed drops below a certain point? Because one thing I hate currently is that when locked in 5th, if I let off the pedal it immediately unlocks and you can feel it and you can also see the tach. jump.

It stays locked for a while.......If I remember correctly (not a lot of miles on it yet) it drops out at 32 or if you stomp on it.......It stays in lockup from 3rd through 5th though.....HJ

Does anyone know if they still need the injector codes for each injector because its not on thier instructions with the exchange.

Thanks
