It's all in the planning...I have been socking money in the Jeep 'slush fund' for a while. The timing was just right with RL's bumper being available.

I'll call it Jeep anomaly...he test fitted the bumper on another '02. It fit beautifully - the angles were all right, etc. It was all welded together - solid. Come time to fit it on mine - angles are wrong. He had to cut the welds (admittedly, he says he should have just spot welded until he was sure) and rework it some. Bottom line is, estimated another 3 hours - to be done tonight. This puts Jan on the road back home a day later than expected. Wanted to get tires mounted - not sure there will be time to do that now. Oh well...better to be done right than half-donkeyed...

That being said - it's better that we are not doing the install ourselves.

  :(

Yeah, you're probably right. I don't think any of us have the means to correct those kinds of issues. :? Hope the rest of it goes well. I'm excited to see it.

Hope Daryl's turns out better...

I hope so, too. FWIW, since mine is taking longer than expected, he will be shipping Daryl's @ no charge.

WOW As much as I appreciate the free shipping, I hope I don't run into the same problems he's having installing yours. I wouldn't be able to fix the problem and have a expensive piece of junk metal!

Now I wish he'd just send me my money back and forget the bumper.

I'm going to email him and see if he will do that. I can't afford to have someone fix it if it don't fit and shouldn't have to.

What worries me is taking everything off, cutting flares and then finding out things don't work. Then my OEM bumper would look really retarded with the cut flares.

I was thinking about offering you the same as Steve's... but your reasoning is the same reason that I wouldn't do it. I think if it were me, I would try to get a refund. That's too much money to invest for it NOT to work. :(

I pm'd him to see what he want's to do and if he send me the bumper, then what kind of guarantee he's giving that it will work.

Who says you need to cut the fllares...just take them off to mount it, then if it works, then cut them :)

This is true, but if it don't fit then who would pay to have it 'adjusted' till it does fit. I'm no welder and wouldn't want to try and learn on the new bumper.

Not sure, Vicki say's her fit great on the one he test fitted it to but didn't work on hers, so I wonder if I'll have the same problems. I'll just have to wait and see what he say's and go from there I guess.

Wonder how much it was actually off, can't even think there would be that much difference unless one had been wrecked even then it should be close. I would not sweat it Daryl. If you come this way to have it done we have access to a welder that is top notch.

From what Jan was telling me last night it was off by an inch on both sides. I'm still going ot chalk it up to subtle differences between not only the different model types (sport, limited, renegade), but when they were built (even for the same model year).

Marty's doing all he can to make it fit right and still look good. Just frustrating on all sides, because no one expected this to take more than a day to install.
