Im with everyone else.
1. Change oil and filter along with air filter. Amsoil European Diesel Oil. Amsoil EA034 oil filter. Amsoil EAA201 air filter.
2. Clean MAP
3. Unplug your MAF (this equals Off Road Mod ((ORM))
4. Get a Provent OR a GDE Eco/Hot tune OR elephant hose.
5. Check to see if your fuel filter head has had the recall. If not do it, if so change the filter.
GDE doesn't address the same issues as the Provent/EMH. You should put GDE up with the ORM/SEGR option.
GDE don't keep oily CCV vapors out of the intake EHM or provent like I have does. GDE tune does do many other good things.
IF the fuel head is not the upgraded one then change that to the upgraded part...still leave the heater unpluged, its not needed in warm weather at all and not needed in winter unless its very cold IMHO. I just unplugged mine and plan not to connect it untill winter. the fuel head comes with a new filter and is far cheaper than the Racor set up. you can get filters at Napa...my local Napa keeps them in stock or order from Rock Auto.
Unplug MAF causes CEL but I ignore it. I do feel like I need to plug it back in every few months to see if there are no other codes.
change the oil if you don't know when and what is in there. as others said use a good diesel oil. My preference is Shell Rotella T6 5w40 in the blue bottles. I get mine at Wal-Mart by the gallon for $19.50 Any good quality filter brand is fine but most here hate Fram.... I use Napa Gold
OH air filter... change that if its not clean looking. the Amsoil Eaa one is nice... you can knock dirt out every oil change an vacuum it out then put it back in for like 4-5 years.
