I just wanted to say thanks for dealing with all of my dumb questions over the last week or more. I Walked on the dealer last sat. I didn't like how they played the Payment game and when he told me i was being stubborn when i was saying no to payments that were 260+ a month for 5yr with 2k down. So i found 2 others both of them are 06. I really liked the performance red one over the khaki. So i ended up getting it for 1100 out the door less than the other dealer last week. I feel way better about this jeep than the 05 last week. It does not do the odd miss/stumble right off idle from a light/stop sign and it feels better overall power wise than the other one.

55miles into it and the display is saying 465 until empty. I didn't fill it the dealer did so i'm not sure how full they actually filled it. Either way I'm very happy with it so far and i'll be doing a hand calculation when i fill it up and trying to get an estimate on how far off my display is over hand ( yes i know since i didnt know how full it was i can't base this 100%) I have read that a few displays are pretty close to being right .5 or 1mpg off. I can handle that as i beleive theres that much error in hand calculating based on the angle of the jeep when filling at the pump if you don't use the same one.

Also they just put a new EGR on it earlier this week right after it was traded in (6/7/10) I will be unplugging the MAF until i get the ECO flash. Along with the Crank case vent mod. Then it will be followed by straight pipe or glass pack and maybe a set of HID's.

Thanks again
I'll be hanging around and try to start a fuelly account when i get time, Along with posting a few pics.

The 06 has a beautiful red color, my wife made me get it. Nice Jeep to play with, go off road & tow and still good on the road. I love mine and I wish you luck with yours.

Red is the way to go, congrats! :pepper:

Just a recommendation... straight pipe or straight-thru muffler, not a glass pack.

Welcome abord :JEEPIN:

The stumble you mentioned on the 05 was most likely air in the fuel :dizzy: Mine was like that untill I put in a lift pump

I'm most likely going to go straight pipe. Just because i will have no problem getting away with it around here, as i have with my 7.3l for a few years now.

Does anyone know if you can pull the muffler and tailpipe in one piece? Or does it have to be cut? I dont' have a sawzall but I can borrow one from a neighbor, i just have to look to see if i can cut it that if i want i can go back to stock with a few clamps/connectors.

The main reason i didn't go for the 05 was how the dealer treated me and how they tried to play me.

I'm off tue and wed so i'll probably be doing the crank vent mod and pulling the maf and map to clean it when i get time.

Congrats on the CRD purchase. I hope you like it as much as I have enjoyed mine. Red was a good choice, allthough Green would have been better :SOMBRERO:

I don't blame you from walking from that other dealer. I hate it when they only care to talk about the payments. WTF! I had a dealer do that exact thing to me but this guy hardly let me walk the lot and see what was for sale. He pulled me into his game before I was even intrested in just one car. then when I told him a ballpark estimate of payment he went on oh we have so many cars you can drive off in now with nothing down. then I ask about do you take trades? he says " I cant give you more than $200 for that old car."
I told him I don't like your attitude and got back in my old car and never went back.... the lot has since went out of business.... can't wonder why. two months later a used subaru dealer offered me $500 sight unseen for my old Legacy in trade for an Outback. when I came back driving it and he saw it he gave another $100. places that play silly games are out to rip you off you are wise to run.

Anyhow enjoy the new CRD and post some pics! We all want to see it. if you don't someone will soon say "pics or it never happened"

You can pull the tale pipe and muffler as an assembly, been there done that. Having worked a bunch with Stainless Steel, I used to cut the pipe made from 304 SS was a abrasive wheel in a 4 1/2" hand grinder. A Sawsall likes to catch, bend and break the blades when you try to cut stainless.
Don't forget to open up the flange on the rear of the cat. I used some creative fabrication tricks to make the flange mod look kinda stock so any idiots can't tell when they look underneath.
I my math classes 2 1/8" was always less than 2 1/2" and 2 1/8" is what the rear cat flange necks down to.
Ran a bunch of back pressure tests and posted them to back up my findings.
In addition to your other exhaust mods, opening up the choke point will drop you back pressure to 0.0 PSI.
After I ran the tests, I saw no need to gut the cat.

wow the flange is that small? I'll for sure will take that out then also. Do you have your old data? It will probably be a few weeks until i get around to doing the exhaust anyway. I have a few things to finish on my pulling truck first.
