My 2005 crd liberty has been at the dealership for 6 weeks. The original problem was a blown turbo. When I shut the truck off one day it kept on running on oil being sucked trough the turbo and into the intake. The steelership replaced the turbo and intercooler and it wont run. After 2 weeks of waiting for a new fuel pump which they say was also bad it still wont start. They will not give me a loaner car and can not tell me how long it will take to fix.Any suggestions?

Take it somewhere else for they don't know how to repair diesel.

Oh I forgot to mention the truck has 59,000 miles and is still covered under warranty.

If you have the top of the line Chrysler ESP as we do, they are required to give you a loaner car if they can't fix it in a couple of days. (I don't think the 7/70 powertrain warranty includes a loaner car, though.)

Another dealer with more diesel expertise would obviously have been better, but I think Chrysler (FIAT?) will now force the dealer who started the job to finish it.

Maybe Mr. Mopar could weigh in on this...............

Under the 7/70 they have to give you a loaner.
Mine was in for fuel filter head, transmission and elec fan replacement.
Got a loaner every time, put several hundred mi on one of them.

Tell us more. What you are describing is a run away diesel - when the engine runs uncontrollably due to compression combustible gases in the intake (oil). Such an engine usually runs away with spiraling up rpms until the engine flies apart. (In which case your post would probably be titled 8000 rpm death) It shouldn't just not shut off. Plus in this engine the FCV in the intake closes on shut down which should prevent a run away. I say that to say, I don't think your mechanic has a clue. I think the oil they are seeing in the intake is the normal CCV dischage and you got a free IC and turbo. I think the problem is electronic (causing the no shut down and not start). I would be thinking something in the fuel system - possible in the CP3 (maybe FCA). You need a better mechanic. This is one reason why I don't like warranties. I'd rather just pay someone to fix it once (or do it myself) than go thru what you are going thru.

x3 on Tinman - The amount of oil from the NORMAL operation of the engine that makes it into the intake is staggering. Especially since the dipsticks are wrong, people are overfilling the engine and the engine will simply put all that excess oil into the intake if the CCV is still connected.

Where you located Deezo? I'm sure there is a member nearby that could either inform your dealer (yea right!) of the real issues... Or suggest a more competent shop. Your dealer is wasting your time and warranty money. They obviously don't have a clue.

Don't waste your time with them - They seriously don't give a rip about the individual, ESPECIALLY since you have an "experimental" vehicle. Yes, I was actually told that by those fools, when I attempted to find out what happened with my own warranty. Their computer ate it, but the answer was that I should have been satisfied with the length of warranty coverage I did get, considering the "experimental" nature of the vehicle.

With a Ford product like the hybrid, you can call them and ask for a "Qualified Field Service Specialist" to go to the individual dealer and assist in diagnosing the problem. I don't think an equivalent exists with Chrysler, this would be the first I have ever heard about something similar.

You are MUCH better off with describing your problems (once you get your CRD back!) on here, and let the sum-total knowledgebase here assist you. The members here really know about 50,000% more than any dealer ever will about the CRD.

Thanks for your input Tinman...My car is still at the steelership since May 14.After waiting for the new high pressure pump they said it needed,it finally arrived now they are telling me it was a defective brand new pump. The reason I know it was originally a bad turbo is it got very loud and then I lost power,I could also hear a rattling sound coming from the turbo. They ordered another pump which came in on Friday I am going to call them tomorrow to see if it starts now.

If you have motor oil in your cylinders you need to burn all of it out first before the engine will ignite on it's own..

Have them try a shot of starting fluid in the air intake to ignite the left over motor oil in the cylinders. Once the motor starts, tell them to let the motor run untill all the smoke stops coming out the tail pipe or all the oil is burned off. .... Then have them take it out for a spin and put the peddle to the metal so that the remaining crud is blown out.

That's my take on it.

They already had the head off to check for valve damage,if there was any oil in the cylinders I am sure they would of spotted it and cleaned them out. I am really running out of patience with this steelership...

That diagnosis is as good as any, I suppose.

@racertracer - starting fluid in any diesel with glow plugs is a bad bad idea. It will ignite prematurely and destroy your piston ring lands.
