Hey guys, Man work has just really been beating up on me for a long time. I have a great job but man o man... I need a break. My wife and I have talked about moving to the middle of nowhere for about 20 years now... building a log cabin... and living off the grid... solar power, wind gens and a gas gen as well...

A friend of mine that works for the same company as I do is 72 years old and just had a heart attack...the last time I talked to him he was telling me he was just shocked at how fast time had gone by and all the dreams and goals he had...have just slipped away..

I do not plan on them slipping away for me. I just turned in my notice at work and plan on moving to 40 acres in the middle of no where... I have someone that is looking at my house now and it looks like that will work out so it is just a matter of time now.

So to date...I will be homeless and jobless within a couple of months and man you just dont know how happy I am about it... Wally is going to really help with the Lifetime members and the forum...JJ and a few others are going to pitch in as well and cover for me...

I will not be LOST forever but just have a few things that I need to deal with right now but I will be back on line very soon... I am just trying to get all the things in place at work... packing things up...ect...ect.... But once we get moved...I will get back in line with things.

This is a very good thing for me and I have really worked very hard to get everything in place to do this... I wanted to talk to all you guys about it because I feel very close to all of you and have made some very close friends in the LOST group. I will miss everyone of you but keep in mind I will just be a days drive from the So-Cal area. We are looking in the Snowflake AZ area and have a few places already picked out. yep 40 acres and a house right in the middle of it with a big fence around it...Hey you guys come out and I will give you a key to the big fence.

Again once we get all setup I will be spending more time on line again.... But I just need to get there and get to a very easy life out in the middle of no where. I have already checked out a very cool placed called the little Moab for us to do some wheeling...but also plan on setting up some camping sites on our place so you guys will have a cool place to camp.

JJ has already picked one of them out for himself... Put in for your site now...hehehe... I will still be around a lot between now and then but just have some other things I need to deal with. Hey maybe even the AZ guys will let me join their cool club....

Wally is telling me we are going to have a meeting soon after the elections and I plan on being therefor sure so I hope to see a lot of you guys there and will fill everyone in on all the details of this move.

Thanks guys. Later...Clint

Hey guys, Bo here, just thought I would add my 2 cents. This was a very big decision to do this now, but like Clint said, we've been dreaming & talking about it for years. We just decided not to wait any longer. It will be a big change for us, but a good one I think. We'll miss seeing you guys as much as we're accustomed to but, really we'll just be out exploring new territory, so come out and join us sometime. See Ya'

Hey, you're my inspiration! I've been into computers now for almost 27 years (since junior high), and I'm just about ready to trash anything that has batteries or plugs into the wall! :D

Well, not quite...but there's more to life than the rat race most of us are in. Good luck, and congratulations!

Good luck to you guys on your dreams and goals. I kinda know how you feel cause two of my very good friends that I worked with from day one passed away and my wife and I was talking about our dreams too. We will miss you here in California but we will see you and Bo on the trails. I will be looking forward in seeing your place in Arizona.
Aloha and Mahalo (love and thanks) for showing me how to work on my KJ and making me feel welcome when I join LostKJs. Lift parties aren't going to be the same.

Clint, you know you're gonna start everyone thinking about the simple, rustic life, right? Good luck on the move and the change in lattitude. My brother currently lives in Show LOw and teaches in Holbrook so he passes thru Snowflake every weekday. Maybe I'll check in if I am heading that way sometime, and I could bring my telescope along.

All the best to you and Bo.

I can't think of anyone who deserves a good, simple, stress free life more than you two! You guys and the animals will be happy campers no doubt. How exciting in such a scary fun way! You guys just let us know when it's time for the KJ caravan that's gonna move all your stuff...(my tent is packed and ready)

We love you guys and know you'll be lost for ever, life always comes first.

Hey Clint & Bo,
I'm really happy for you guys and kinda envy you (in a god way).
Clint, I know how you feel and am planning a similar, though not quite as drastic, move in the near future. Your move just gives me more inspration to get off my butt and actually follow through with my threats.
If there is anything we can do to help out, just let us know.

I'm sure the horses will really love the new place. :D

Clint, I'm glad you found the means and courage to follow up on your dreams. My wife and I also have similar plans, but they will have to wait unless the kids are ready to be on their own :D In the meantime we are working towards those goals.

You know what they say, "Land, they just don't make them any more" :D

PS: I know you mentioned "log cabin", but if you don't mind, you might want to take some time to look at livemoden and fabprefab for some modern, off-grid, "green" living ideas and projects currently available. Some of these designs are very environmentally conscious. What kind of features are you exploring? Do you want to get in touch with architects?

Hey Clint,

Just wanted to say let me know if you need a helping hand in getting settled in once in AZ.... I have a cabin in Pinetop Lakeside area that I could stay in and offer assitance during the day only about 40 min drive from my cabin. Just give me a time and place and I am there to help.

later,
Dan

Thanks guys for all your kind comments, We have had all kinds of friends tell us we are either crazy for doing this or other say, "Man I have always dreamed of doing it but know I will never really do it".

We have talked about this for 20 years and I just dont want to wake up another 20 years from now and say, "Yep I should have done that 20 years ago". Just seems like we all get so dang hung up on a stupid job we dont take time for ourselves.

So I am making the time now and man I just can't wait. I will still be in Moab just like I planned, and will be making all the other big runs in So-Cal for sure but I am really looking forward to doing some wheeling in AZ as well. Hey I will only be like 5 hours from Moab now... Hot Dang...

Thanks again guys...Yea I am not trying to tell anyone what to do ...But make some time for your selfand dont let that stupid job thing stand in your way... Things always seem to work out if you put your mind to it...

Hi Clint and Bo, or vice versa: That's great! So many times people don't get to live their dreams because they put it off thinking there would always be time. Sue and I are living ours now and have been for many years. We just can't believe how much fun we're having and I'm sure you'll do the same. If we ever get old (OK, really, really old), there's nothing we'll regret.

I have a 24' triple axle enclosed cargo trailer and I know how to use it. Let me know when you plan to move and....

Just look at it this way, after they move they'll probably be as close to you as they are to me now. Just one more reason to go to Arizona, I gotta pick out my camping spot too ya know!

Hey Clint and Bo -

I think Pink Floyd said it best:

"And then one day you find
Ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run,
You missed the starting gun."

I think folks get too wrapped up in planning for the future that they forget that you can only live in the present.

I'm gonna miss you two a lot, but when I move out to my 40 acres near Hackberry, AZ, we'll be fairly close to each other.

I would like to reserve one camp site. Maybe a lifetime reservation? I have a '67 Shasta travel trailer, about 10' long, and a '72 Ford F-250. If you want to put me REALLY far away from the 40' diesel pusher motorhomes I'd understand. Would I have something like a bell to ring so the beer girls would drive the golf cart full of iced-down Coors out to me? Please let me know.

Happy Trails!
Key-Lock

Clint's 1st annual, 40 acer snowflake shindig.

I think this should be an early October run.

Clint and Bo, Good luck on all future endeavors, you are great people and like all the West folks welcomed me and others into the group with open arms, Clint even did my lift after the Toy Run since Quinn was moving and I kept bugging him to find out when a lift party would happen. Then out on the trails was always helping out the new guys to help us get more comfortable.

Any help you guys need let us know, and I will be their.

I wish all the happiness in the world to you two, and I know that this is the best thing that can happen for you. If anyone can make a move like this, I know you can Clint and Bo. I know there's alot of us that wish we had the courage and ability to do something like what you are going to be doing.
I know I'll miss you guys, just being across the valley, but I know we'll see each other on the trail.

Actually, for Snowflake mid September would probably be better. It'll be in the mid-to-upper 80s during the day and down into the high 40s/low 50s at night. It can actually get cold enough to snow in that area during October. Whenever it is you know all 40 acres will be dotted with tents

well, put us in for for a camping spot too, perferably under a tree :) you won't be too far from scott's uncle who lives off the Beeline hwy on the edge of Tonto national forest so we could visit them and you at the same time. but we'll definitely wait for the cool weather!

(is naming a town in AZ Snowflake some kind of twisted irony?)

good luck to both of you! guess you need to look into getting thos LOST KJ and LOST ZJ plates in AZ too!
