The truth is that most people flock to purchase gassers more so than diesels because they cost less. Gassers are not built to withstand the test of time, diesels are. Hence why the lesser cost.

Having worked out the torq conv. and EGR issues, I now own an Italian powered CRD Diesel that is worry free, with coglioni to kick the pants off almost any vehicle on the highway. Turning heads and leaving people in awe.

Above all, I make my own biodiesel costing me pennies to drive and paying for itself the more I use it.

Not too many SUV out there can claim that, except maybe a Jeep GC CRD, or a Merc. Blue TEC SUV, but you will need 55G or more for that.

Our Jeep Liberty CRD's are an inepensive diesel to own compared to some of the other intercooled turbo diesels out there. This vehicle is a joy to drive. I never experienced a vehicle like this in my life and I plan to rescue another one if I get the chance from any foolish CRD preowner, ignorant enough to not know the treasure they presently own.

I am considering converting my 97 Jeep TJ to a VM motori CRD, it's a superb engine.

I've also noticed there is a "Eeww, it's dirty and stinky!" stigma with diesels from the general population. One that I know is not true with modern engines. I am a gasser driver who, sadly, bought my Liberty too late to get in on a CRD.

Not completely true... the cost more because the manufacturer charges more. In other countries, there is not as big of a penalty for a diesel version as there is here in the US.

440 lb./ft. at 1,500 RPM from a gasser? :ROTFL: Whatever man.

Not hard to do at all, heck somewhere in all my paperwork I still have the dyno sheets from when I built my Olds 350 Rocket. That engine was putting over 500lbs-ft of torque at 1500rpm's at the crank(peaked at over 620lbs-ft in the 4000rpm range),granted that was running 13.5:1 compression and 116 octane CAMII race gas.Knowing how to build a engine to what your needs are is not hard, just gotta have some gray matter working.
