abs light came on while driving , checked with scan tool, right rear sensor was bad, replaced sensor but do not have scan tool with me, any way to clear codes without tool, tried unhooking the battery and the light was still on, didn't know if anyone had a way to clear them without a tool. any help would be great.

Borrow the scan tool again, or buy one from Harbor Freight.
My Wife's TDI would not clear the ABS light until I used the OBDII Scan Tool and cleared it, must be some legislative requirement.

Hi,
I'll bet you a case of beer that you will not be able to reset the ABS light. The reason is that the sensor you replaced probably wasn't bad. A common problem is that the wire that feeds the right rear ABS wheel sensor is thin and fragile and not long enough....over time it will break. Mine had 3 shorted areas in the wire. Instead of replacing the whole harness, I just ran a new wire alongside the harneess and soldered and shrink taped it at the connector plug under the right rear pax seat. I used 16 guage speaker wire from radio shack that I protected with shrink wrap tubing (bought in bulk from Harbor freight) and then put into nice 1/4 inch plastic conduit.

Good luck. The ABS light will reset itself after you drive faster than a certain speed (I think its over 20mph) without an error signal to the ECU. If the sensor was the issue, the ABS light would have extinguished itself like it did when I replaced the bad wire to the wheel sensor.

PS: Anybody want a free right wheel sensor? I too bought a replacement thinking it was that simple but a new one didn't fix the ABS light and lack of cruise.
