Hello LOST members,

I'm sure by now most of you know that the front drive shaft CV joint at the t case fails pretty quickly on our KJs. On top of that they are not very cheap to replace, usually the entire shaft must be purchased. The joint in my is making a lot of noise now, I was considering a u joint shaft from alldriveline.com but I figured Chrysler used CV's for a reason and I don't want any vibration.

After some searching I found these

http://www.driveshaftparts.com/cv-joints-shafts/jeep/jeep-driveshaft-cv-joint/prod_430.html

I ordered on for my Jeep to test out - can't beat $70

If you want I can do an install post with pics when I get it

Thinks that's funny JL I've been through 5. Doesn't take much to tear that stupid boot on the T-Case side. Then you are done. Thanks for the Info tho I just ordered 2.

Please do! The site says this kit includes a boot. I would like to see how that attaches.

Yes let me know how the boot attaches!
I had my boot torn and ruined the joint.
Being a poor college kid a new front driveshaft around $300 isn't easy..
and without a good boot then that it would just happen again...

Edit: It says for 02-05 whats the difference in the joint for an 06??

Haha no this isn't spam, I have absolutely nothing to do with this company except for the fact that I am a recent customer. The boot always tears on these driveshaft CV joints, then the grease flys out, the joint drys up and wears out. I just posted this because I figured more people should know this option is out there because I didn't until now. I ordered one of these and got it in the mail today. The joint is 3 pieces, the front dust cover, the actual cv joint, and the rear dust cover. The boot is attached to the front dust cover and feels pretty thick and durable but time will tell. As for fitting a 2006, I'm not sure. You may have to call them on that one.

I saw that on there as well but it says Jeep grand cherokee 93-98. Looks identical though, you'll need to call them on that one. If it doesn't fit I know about this one but it's nearly twice as much.

Did the install of the CV joint on my liberty. It was more difficult than I expected, essentially it was just pop the rear dust cover off, remove the snap ring, then slide off the bad cv joint. However my joint was so rusty inside that it was seized to the end of the driveshaft. I ended up cutting the old joint off but long story short here are pics. Sorry they're not very good, I had to use my laptop webcam to snap the shots.

Hope it holds up well

My joint is bad at the trans side. The local drive shaft shop wanted to rebuilt entire shaft and convert to u joints for $375.00. i thought i would have to run around with out the front drive shaft. thanks for this posting it, this more in my cash flow range.
