Reverse Light Bulb comparison test....

In an effort to find a better than stock bulb for my reverse lights I purchased two different brands of 3157 clear bulbs, then did a side by side comparison of both with the stock bulb original to my Liberty.....

Sylvania Silverstar, and PIAA H.I.D.

The PIAA H.I.D. bulbs are without a doubt whiter, but the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs are by far brighter. The Silverstar does have a slight amber tint to them compared to the PIAA's, but not as amber as the stock bulbs original to my Liberty. Both are brighter than the stock bulb which IMHO is a very weak and anemic excuse for a reverse light bulb.

These bulbs by no means provide the same level of light as auxiliary outboard lighting fixtures, but for those looking to get more brightness out of your backup lights, but don't want to drill more holes or run more wires, these Sylvania Silverstar 3157's are about the best you can do without melting your tail light fixture.....

Determining a light fixture's actual brightness via a digital photo is marginal at best, the naked eye is a much better judge, but since so many of you insist on a photo or it doesn't count, here ya go....

I don't know if I can get to mine at that particular angle anymore due to the tail light guards, but what aprox. time of day was it when you took your pics ill take one as similar as i can

i wanted brighter reverse lights too... thats why i went with LED.... buy two 60 LED lights and you dont need aux back up lights at all

What lighting are you using JJH....???

theyre 48's from autolumination.com other than the LED count, the PN is the same as the stock bulb type, avail, in red, amber and white

i had one bulb that lasted a week, they ended up sending me 2 white replacements and a red and a yellow, so that I'd have a spare should any other bulbs from that lot be faulty, so .. they appear to have excellent CS, in return they asked me to send in the bad bulb so that they could look at it to figure out what was bad

but, thus far, haven't had any problems with the other bulbs

if you scroll down i have the 60 led 3157, but hey when i got mine they didnt have 120 LED.... i may have to upgrade :rockon:

Kinda expensive for a light bulb, but if they never fail it might be worth the investment.....

I have LEDs al around my car reverse, break, turning, side markers even int lights. my girlfriend love the mirror lights ( make up). and my driving lights are 8000k white HID hi/lo alone with white HID Fog lights.
And thats what every car on the road should have.

my brother in law says " with those lights i felt like i was driving my porshe"

P.S if you are planing on getting HID make sure you get the proper relays (it only $6 extra) so the car recognizes the light. mopars have very picky lights especial those with day time driving lights.

which bulbs do you use in the interior mirror lights... i cant find a size... i been meanign to change mine but cant find the size anywhere

they just like the dome lights but smaller i cant remeber the exact size but but you can find them on ebay. it about 1 cm long. best thing is to go to a car show you wont get the best deal but you will get exactly what you need. if you do by on ebay dont by from china stay local (usa). and dont buy the cheapest, use your judgement.

P.S the have the angle light for the 08 the dont look bad. i dont like them on my 07.

i need to make a correction, after looking at my receipt, mine are 30's and 3157 (dual circuit) in brake, turn and reverse - no idea what the effect of the dual circuit has on the reverse bulb but i havent experienced anything negative with light output
