And this is a good example why to buy greaseable u-joints. Once the "1-shots" loose the greese it's over. This is with 34k and very little water crossings, just hot dry Moab.

Hard to see in this pic but the rubber seal has a space which it should not, it should be firm. 2 out of the 4 had a space and when opened up were bone dry.

This is what came out of them

New vs Old.

Symptoms were vibration and all speeds especially accerating. A "rubbing" noise as slow speed almost like rubber rubbing.

Anyway there you have it. Overall a easy install..... I used the socket and hammer method so no special tools needed here. Perhaps I'll do a write up, I do have pics.

Ugh. Nice mess. Good thing you caught it before it caught you on the trail!

I had a new driveshaft CV joint decide to go out on the way to Moab last year in my XJ and ended up spending a day getting it fixed and back together in the campground. I kinda assumed that it would have been greased up properly when I picked it up from the person that built it, you know what happens when you assume. GREASE IS YOUR FRIEND!!! At least that is what I learned and also to carry a grease gun w/ me on long trips.
