How about this one up past Woodland Park? Has anyone done China Wall before? It looks interesting enough.

I did a search on the CO4x4 board, and that China Wall is looking pretty good. Reviews seem to be a pretty easy trail with bypasses around all the hard stuff. Here is a link to the search string I did. Lost of awesome pictures to check out: http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/search.p ... hid=427491

China Wall may be a little far for me. If that's is what is decided I may have to pass on this run. It's a 3+ hour drive for me to get to Tarryall.

I'll keep posted to see what everyone decides on the where and when to run. I'll let you all know if I can make it.

OK, jeep is legal now, so I am ready to go. Where are we going? I guess China Wall is out, because it is not worth going to if some can't go.

Also ready to go... Just need to know where and when.
Sorry about China Wall RL. I just don't know if I want to commit to 6-7 hours of just there and back time this weekend.

No problem with China Wall, doesn't hurt my feelings. I have plenty of time to hit all the trails. No sense picking a trail not everyone could go to.

OK, where are we going to go and where are we going to meet.

Pete, I will probably ride with Marty since I can ride in the front. Thanks for the offer though.

Okay, we're 2 days out from a run and we still don't have any idea where we're going. It looks like my Jeep is likely to be the least capable for this trip and I'm up for just about anything. I'm a little gun shy about choosing a trail during this time of the year (most know what I'm talking about) but if we're going to find something that is challenging for some and not boring for others, it will probably have to be something with spur routes. I know that Old Stage has many spurs and I'm pretty sure that Rampart Range has many spurs, but do the others have spurs as well? Either way, we need to come up with something by tomorrow night.

Since we have people with timelines, I am more inclined to let those people choose something. Not much experience on my part with the trails during the winter. Easy can be moderate to hard with snow or just as easy as summer time.

We have one from North Colorado coming, right? Do we try anything around Idaho Springs?

Don't worry too much about me, but do you think Idaho Springs area will be clear enough of snow?
I would like to read a little more on Old Stagecoach, but I can't find a trail write-up. Could someone post a link to one.

Old Stage is a nice road for a leisurely drive. There are some spurs off as well for those looking for more challenges.

Given the temperatures this past week and what they're supposed to be, I would venture to say that the conditions are pretty favorable.

If we do that, we could meet at the IHOP over that way off Circle/Cheyenne Blvd....just a thought!

maybe we need to post another poll here to decide what trail, where we're meeting, and when. Keeping in mind that the further South we go, the longer drive it is for some of us....;)
If we're doing it in Colorado Springs, I would like to vote for a meeting time that isn't before 10-11am.

Is old stage the same as old stagecoach? If so, there is a spur off old stage #370C, which is Eagle Rock. 4x4trails.net rates it a 7, but all the reading I have been doing on it, says it is worth a try as long as it junk isn't stock. Might be worth looking into and giving a shot since it is right of old stage. My buddy with his monsterous XJ on 36" Irocs has a winch, I believe, just in case, and if anyone does happen to brake anything, We could always do repairs at my place. Here is a search link on CO4x4 if you guys want to read through it and check out the pics: http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/search.p ... hid=430257

If you guys don't mind, this is really getting down to the wire, and old stage has come up several times. I put out a few posts to some friends and on the CO4x4 forum asking questions about old stage and eagle rock, and if someone that has done eagle rock says it is doable with our group, and if they can come along to lead and guide, what do you guys think? No one seems to have any experience with the trails down here, so it would be a wise idea to atleast bring someone along that knows where to go. Don't want to overstep, but I'm itching to go as well as a few others I see, and we need to figure something out for those guys travelling several hours just to drive on a dirt road. :D

I have done eagle rock. That's where I crushed my factory rock sliders. It was really muddy in Oct of last year, and the trail got tore up pretty good from all the rigs passing through.

Eagle rock has some rough spots, and even some of the built rigs had a challenge. The bad part is, on most of then, there are easier bypass's, but on some, there are not. All in all, its a great run, and, we could always go a little ways up eagle rock to play around, and then turn around back down, instead of taking it all the way through back to Old Stage.

Up to you guys. I certainly gave my .02 cents at the beginning of this thing. The folks with the time constraints should make this call. If we can't agree on something in the next couple hours let's just cancel the whole thing. We're down to the wire and people need time to find sitters, plan for driving time, etc.

My wife and I have plans that will keep us out late tonight. If I don't see some sort of decision before we leave for the evening then we won't plan on coming tomorrow.

I may have to back out too if I don't hear something definate. The wife and I also will be out late-ish tonight, and I would like to know how early I need to be on the road tomorrow.

Well, we don't want people bowing out because no one knows where to go. How about this, since old stagecoach was on the list/poll, and there are interesting spurs off from that, we can just do that one, and I'll bring a calender, and we can discuss time and place for next trail in a few weeks/month so we already know when and where we are going on the next trail run. My junk is capable, but no comfortable driving clear up to Boulder with it yet, especially with the CO Springs guys needing to be back by 5. For meeting time and place, unless anyone has any objections, we could meet at my place between 8 and 9, do a quick check over of everyones rig and equipment, and I might be convinced in making some biscuits and gravy, coffee and OJ. How's that? I hate to take charge when other people started the whole thing, but it isn't fair for some people that have pretty tight schedules with babysitters, work, etc. Please don't get upset with me, I am just really anxious to hit the trails and would like to go with everyone.
