What orange plug? Where is it located? When I did the wiring, it was just a kit that harnessed into both rear tail lights.

I don't have a brake controller on the CRD, but I wouldn't mind having the ability if it wasn't a huge PITA to do. Relay-controlled trailer lights would be nice too, as my big trailer apparently pulled too much power and blew my brake light fuse the first time. Swapped to a larger size and its been fine since tho.

Body plug about 3" in dia. Look just above the tail pipe behind the bumper and it is right there.

Here you go LibertyCRD... You might want to give the factory a call and let them know that on my '05 they "stole" a bunch of "standard" parts from me. Tell you what: I'll even be generous, you can keep the parts that they should have given me according to this list. I'm waiting to hear their response to you. This is the FULL build sheet from the factory for my CRD. As you can see by the last item, the remote starter was requested by the original owner and factory installed, so this vehicle must have come right off the truck into his garage. But since "standard" equipment would ALWAYS be here according to you... Where is that tow package listed again?

Well that is certainly strange because when I was looking at CRDs new....all of them had the tow package as standard equipment and it was on the window sticker. And... in the past 5 years since then I have yet to EVER see a CRD without the towing package until you guys started chiming in. Very strange indeed... Did they do different things for different regions maybe? Like they did with the Dodge Rams?

I don't think it is a different-thing-for-different-region problem. The dealers would have had to place orders for the vehicles to sit on their lot just the same as if a customer directly wanted one. Mine is a late-05-year build, so maybe what you were seeing was the results of dealers deciding to stack their profit margin by factory-ordering everything they could stuff into the things. More options = more profits, like those $500 floormats. I was looking nation-wide when I started looking for mine (Autotrader searches mostly) and it was hit or miss on the hitch. Some had it, some didn't. I didn't think anything of it at the time.

Remember the Grand Cherokee diesels right after the CRD? Or how about the V-10 Touareg VW... You *can't* find those with less than the top trim level and ALL the options... unless they were extremely special orders. Off the lot, they have everything possible. In the case of the VW, they would only be made with all the options, Nav, sunroof, extra trims, tow package, adjustable air suspension... Because VW's logic was if you wanted the "premium" of a diesel engine, you must have wanted the "premium" of EVERYTHING else as well. Made the difference between gas and diesel more than $12,000, mostly in those stupid overpriced toys. Then again, VW have an I-5 version of that engine... But we had to be stuck with a V-10 that was ONLY for the USA market.

It comes down to a simple mindset of screwing the marketplace, not giving them what the customer requests.

Huh. Didn't know that, but if they had access to the 10, why not give us access to the 5? I'd be rocking a VW now if they had, b/c I don't have 70k laying around for that beast new with the 10.
