I have noticed an issue with my rearend chattering when slowly taking off from a complete stop..
What could it be?

Are these rears know for any issues? Like the fronts are?

How do you know it's the diff itself? It could be a u-joint.

Pop the cover and it will tell the truth, gears and bearings don't lie. If you do have a problem in the Rear End, you will have metal in the bottom of the case. Tires can produce noise and vibration as can bad universal joints.

Why not just put it in N with the parking brake on and check the U-joints before you pull the diff cover off? Unless you are sure that is it?

It's pretty random as to when they go. One of mine went at 47k. Get a greasable replacement if you can commit to greasing it regularly. Otherwise just get a sealed one, put it in and forget it. I replaced both while I had the driveshaft off. They're only like $15 each.
