Best I can do for you guys is a supplier in Germany.

Sells through Ebay. Pump with shipping to the US: aprox US$ 276

http://cgi.ebay.de/Wasserpumpe-Water-Pu ... 1614wt_982

Seems steep but for me that's a steel, JEEP wants US$ 590 for it over here...

I have found a company that manufacturer replacement water pumps for our Jeeps

http://www.crownautomotive.net/mm5/merc ... gory_Code=

I called one dealer and he checked with Crown and could have the pump in 2 days.

Does anyone have experience with Crown?

Some of the repo parts that I used in my Army Jeep restoration were made by Crown. They were certainly not the quality of NOS jeep parts, but better than a few of the other import alternatives.

I just got an email back from cardone (emailed them this morning!)

Basically it will be 3-5 days turnaround on re-manufacturing the pump, plus shipping time. The bad part is that there is a 20% chance they will not be able to rebuild the unit(I guess he means that 1 in 5 they get in they are not able to re-manufacture)

I spoke with my mechanic Tuesday and he called his wholesaler and confirmed what most are saying here. His only tidbit that he added are that there are about 74 of us nationwide that have ordered and are p :furious: ssed because we are waiting. FIAT/DCX/POTUS/Jeep's solution is to ship about 25 today or tomorrow. The rest of us get to wait until September, HOPING ( :juggle: ) that our 4,500 lb vehicle does not become a glorified paperweight in the process.

While waiting for the past month, my idler tension/serpentine combo has AGAIN knocked out my alternator. Since I cannot walk to work, I have the FIRST plug-in light-duty diesel/electric hybrid :JEEPIN: thanks to my DieHard Platinum and B&D Charger. In my BLACK jeep, I get to drive around in the warmest weather Indiana has had in the last five years with no air, radio or fan in an attempt to conserve electricity. My crapped-out RedTop is my back-up if I break-down around the State Fair which I must attend for the next 5 days (rough neighborhood). If I get robbed, my Jeep has its own built-in theft deterrent system though the carjacker might come back and mug me for letting him take it :jester: .
I'm full of HOPE :5SHOTS:

Man boilermaker2, I would have to go ahead and fix that tensioner and not wait on the pump to do everything at once. If I was you and were not in the first 25 I would be temped to buy the one on car-part.com and send it off to be re-manufactured.

I bit the bullet and bought a used one with 25,000 miles on it for $75 off of ebay and am going to send it off to cardone once I get it in. Hopefully I am not in that 20%.

Hey guys, I just want to throw this out - I've been wondering if we can replace the mechanical water pump with an electric water pump. I don't know how many teeth that would take out of the timing belt if you completely bypass that sprocket and if there is another timing belt for another car that would fit.

Just an idea I've been kicking around now that our CRD has been "up on blocks" for two months. I just hope I can remember how it all goes back together when/if I ever get the parts...

Mopar Parts America told me today via e-mail, that they may have my water pump available for shipping out by the end of this week. I have had one back ordered since May.

Why are you looking for KJ parts only ?
As i know we can use engine spare parts from CHRYSLER VOYAGER, London taxi etc ...
For example: http://stores.ebay.ie/jeepchryslerparts ... ec0Q2em322
- water pump;
- thermostat;
- serpentine belt and timing set ...

Am i wrong ?

I decided to order one today (timing belt changeout) but they are not available until end of Sept.

Does Mopar charge your card when ordered or charge your credit card when shipped?

I called the dealer today and there were 4 in Cleveland. I leave for Germany on Thursday night so I will have a look to see if there are any there as well.
