When I had my Ram 1500 with the 4.7L gas engine... I noticed that Kroger fuel typically provided me with the best MPG. (I log my fuel economy religiously with a spreadsheet).

Well, I've been filling the CRD at the local Murphy USA spot in town (Walmart) for the past several tanks and my mileage has consistently been 23-24 MPG. I'm consistently showing around 210 miles when I get to the half-tank mark (with GDE tune).

This past weekend, I found a Kroger that actually sold diesel fuel, so I stopped and filled up there. Yesterday, I hit the half-way mark on the fuel guage and I had 240 miles so far! This tank is on pace for at least 25 MPG.

Apparently, Kroger gas and diesel fuel is awesome stuff. I don't know who their supplier is...but wow! If you happen to be in KY or a surrounding state that has Kroger stores...stop and get some fuel. :)

I am typically around the 155 mile matk when at half a tank. You may be surprised that many stations pump the same fuel that came from the same truck. Follow one next time and see where they stop. We have the same truck stop at 7-11, Quick Stop, and a Conaco station here.

He has the GDE tune and the fuel guage reads correctly. At 3/4 you have 15 gallons left, Half you have 10 and 1/4 you've got 5 left. You can't compare it with the original calibration

Liberty,
The local Kroger store just put in gas pumps and they have diesel too. I'll try a tank full. But as BVCRD says they all pretty much get it from the same tanks. Central Ohio has been known for crappy fuel, both diesel and gasoline, for some time :furious:

I fillled up at Kroger in Morgantown WV on the way back from a trip. I noted two things the pumps cetaine lable indicated 45 minimum, where I am it is 40 almost all places. second the engine seemed like it ran smoother and quieter. I did get 29 mpg on that trip to charlston and back home. cant say it was the Kroger fuel but it may have helped in the last leg of the journey.

that may have been one of the best tanks of fuel ever. sad that there is no Kroger near me. Us yankies are loosing out.

I've used King Soopers and Loaf and Jug (Kroger subsidiaries) fuel centers here in the Front Range and I'd agree that they've picked quality fuel suppliers. When I've gone on the road I've seen a noticeable drop in fuel economy once I refuel. I don't know who they use here, but I'd like to find out who else they supply!
