Got a Urea Burner today

Nice van, I will really know how much I like it when it is upfitted with shelving, parts, and tools. But it moves right along empty. Of course it is a lesser V-6 diesel, don't know why MB quit selling the I5 :roll:

Yea, they're not bad, but they are expensive. Not sure why they quit selling the I5 either.

Sure they are expensive, and I am in business, Obama wants me to support any one in the country that does not want to work, so I need a write off. I can not get a tax deduction to keep older trucks going if I am doing the work.

Thanks, they are saying 19 MPG, and I am not putting roof racks on it, ladders are going inside, so hopefully I can keep it at 19 MPG.

19 mpg is pretty good for that tall beast.

I had it idling today, and the exhaust pipe is still shiny new inside at 700 miles, and is does not emit diesel fumes, all it smells like is a gas furnace draft hood. I guess the EPA is happy for now? But it does emit fumes on a cold start.

flman, your exhaust will stay cleaner than a Toyota Prius for the life of the truck. With a particle filter and SCR/urea, there is very little material coming out of the exhausts. Enjoy.

Bigger engine means it can burn more fuel to get the same energy.

Huh? I also own a 2005 I5 sprinter, and it runs the same as it did new, when it was new we could bet the higher sulfphur diesel. So I doubt the low sulphur theory. Besides Inlines always have more torque then vees, even in smaller displacement. Just like my CRD was made in the era of high sulphur fuel, still runs the same.

Well after a few days of installing shelves and putting lots of thought into stocking it, I am about 99% complete now. With all the space on the left side vs the right side I almost have the load balanced, the right side is 1/4 inch higher front and rear, and I put as much heavy stuff as I could fit on the right side. I think it should be OK with that little bit of load height difference? Notice I even insulated the bulk head with silver bubble wrap insulation. It should help with noise and that cold draft down my neck this winter.

met a guy a week ago that has one but the dodge version, said he loves it has never let him down, has over 200,000 on it with original tranny and what not, his is loaded just like that one, he does gas and electric. only complaint he had was that the sheetmetal was rotting from the inside out, it had big spots of rust all over it, he mentioned something about them getting shipped over from germany that was part of the problem causing the rust idk, maybe its just the year that he had with that problem. i think his was a 2006.

We have a 2005 Dodge Sprinter as well, and it does have some rust spots on it, we are going to try and treat them with a neutralizer and touch up those spots and see how much we can get out of that van. Glad to hear that a Sprinter is running good with over 200K on it. There is one on Ebay with 600K on it, don't know the history on it though.
