Hi,

We recently purchased our second Liberty. The latest addition to the family is a 2005 Renegade. It does not have the overhead console with the compass/Temp/min trip computer. I would really like to add one. Has anyone studied this to know what parts are required and how difficult it is to add? I did a bit of searching the forum, and came up blank.

Thanks,

Brian

search EVIC. Many people have added this, it seems.

Start searching the collision yards for a bent Libby with an EVIC. I've found you can pick one up for anywhere from $40 to $70. Here's a few tips for you;

- grab the wiring harness that plugs into the EVIC. You only need the plug and a few inches of cable.
- wire it correctly to battery & ignition not simply to battery. I've ran my battery dead not following this simple rule.
- an EVIC has a menu button, the other console (the OTIS) doesn't
- try to get an EVIC to match your Libby. On the driver's side door pillar you'll find the year.

Thanks! searching isn't much help if you don't know the vocabulary.

When we added the EVIC to my 05 CRD we got the whole wiring harness from the vehicle......We were able to sneak the wires under the headliner and just do a plug and play.......If you have a CRD the temperature sensor is already in your system.....The harness plugs in at the rear left corner of the truck right behind where the left ail light is... All you have to do is unplug the old harness the interior lights and the high mount brake light then just plug them back into the new harness....BTW dont forget to get the plastic mount that glues to the roof to mount the EVIC to...We also cut part of the roof liner from the old vehicle to use as a template when cutting the hole in mine....HJ
