well if it is the same a a older jeep tj i found that the fog light realy was only used break power when the high beams where on so in that case just take out the relay and jump the lines lights should stay out will you pull them on and stay on with the high beams

I know a few have farted around with the idea of doing this, but I believe that it can not be done because the lights are controlled by the BCM

Would it be possible to disconnect the factory fogs from the factory wiring. Then just wire them as if they were aftermarket using the same switch? Maybe?

Ok question...

Could there be any issues with heat?

I understand that if you are running high beams the fogs lights are really not not needed, BUT having both at the same time durring non fog times would give you more light on the road....

So personaly I am all for it if the wiring and housing can take it...

Grammer police stay home...

Our Australian spec KKs can have the fog lights on when high beam is on. Yes they do give you more light on the road in non fog conditions when used in conjunction with High Beam. :JEEPIN:

As Digger suggested earlier the light's are controlled by the BCM, hence the need for a Starscan.

Thread Resurrection :)

IIRC whether its controlled by BCM or not, it still requires a mechanical relay hence it can be done. I'm going to play with this project this week and will post my results.

My KK is an American Spec KK and when I push stick thing to turn on my brights temporialiry, the fog lights stay on as well. I'm not sure if this happens to anyone else, but when I really need that extra light, I have to push the stick thing and just hold it.

I held mine for like 2 minutes and then the HB stopped working all together for like 5 minutes... :?

It does say that this will happen (owners manual).

I installed Hella 500 FF's on the front and wired them so they come on with the high beams. No switch needed, you just tap into the high beam wire instead of the low beam wire (like the directions say to do). I then replaced the 55w bulbs with 100w bulbs and there is plenty of light out in front. Cost less than $100 for the entire set up. Also if people driving towards me at night fail to dim their high beams, I can still see fine when I cut mine on. They then usually cut theirs off rather quickly.
