Engine, Transmission and Cooling

I installed the Transgo “correction” shift kit on March 15th, 2007 with 1,700 miles on the KJ.

PML Transmission Pan

The advantages of an Aluminum Transmission Pan.

1. A deeper pan will hold more fluid, thus providing more cooling
2. The Aluminum pan and fins will reduce transmission temperatures
3. The magnetic drain plug will capture metal shavings, keeping your fluid clean
4. The drain plug will allow for easy drain intervals without having to remove the pan
5. A temperature sending unit will allow you to monitor transmission temperatures
6. Reducing trany temperatures will prolong the life of your transmission and trany fluid
7. A nice addition for towing and off-roading

Cold Weather Intervention

Mopar Engine Block Heater
KJ/KK Liberty 2002-2009 3.7L Part# 82203640AB

Description: The heater is mounted in a core hole (in place of a core hole plug) in the engine block, with the heating element immersed in coolant.

Operation: The block heater element is submerged in the cooling system’s coolant. When electrical power is supplied to the element, it creates heat. The heat is transferred to the engine coolant. This provides easier engine starting and faster warm-up when vehicle is operated in areas having extremely low temperatures.

Removal:
1. Drain cooling system
2. Detach power cord plug from heater
4. Loose screw in the center of heater. Remove heater assembly.

Installation:
1. Thoroughly clean core hole and heater seat.
2. Insert heater assembly with element loop positioned upward.
3. With heater seated, tighten center screw securely to assure a positive seal.
4. Connect power cord to heater
5. Fill cooling system

Mopar Battery Blanket

The battery blanket electronically warms the battery to extend battery life and prevent loss of starting power due to cold temperatures.

Yes sir, and I'm happy to pay it. A good paintjob makes a huge difference in how things look. Our Jeep Liberty didn't come with a tow hitch, so I picked up a used OE one for free. It's a little rusty, so I'm going to take it to the paint shop and have it sandblasted and repainted. I've already purchased the Mopar wiring harness for it.

A block heater makes your morning warm-ups quick and easy. At 10* degrees, the jeep blows warm air within 30 seconds of starting it. Also, I don’t have a high idle in the cold mornings. Cold weather startups are hard on an engine, so why not prolong the life of your engine by installing one? I have a block heater for all my vehicles. You may not feel the need to have one living in OKC. The temperatures can drop down to -25 where I live.

You will see cars (gas) with them all the time up in Alaska or the other Northern states (Montana, SD, ND, MN, WI).

I love the transmission and fan mods. As for the heater I would love to have one but the garage won't fit the jeep in it and I would prefer not to have a exposed cord. Plus I dnt always get the driveway and I can just press 2 buttons to warm the jeep up. Although having the coolant be warm for cold starts does sound nice.

I've seen temps down to -30 where I live, so keeping the coolant warm does dramatically increase warm-ups. Research shows that having a block heater also increases the engine life. Besides warming the coolant, the block heater also warms the entire engine. The heat rises and the warmth spreads to the oil and cylinders as well. As a matter of fact, it even melts the snow in the middle of my hood.
