Is there a group buy going on the the GDE tunes. I would like to get in on it.

If not, are others interested and how many did it take last time?

I figure the fuel savings with pay for the tune in less than a year because I run aobut 30,000 miles a year.

Thanks,

I read a message somewhere from a reliable source that the group buy is over and there will not be another.

Is there anyone who did not see an extra 5 miles per gallon on their mileage? I drive with a pretty light foot but haul a cargo trailer with a medium load.

When I read this on the GDE website, or he chimes in, I would say it was the last day for a previous group buy. If I were driving 30K a year, I would not waste my time trying to get a group together to save $50 bucks. You will get that back at the pump by doing this ASAP.

I'll raise my hand I guess. I did not see a 5 MPG increase. I did not even see a 3 MPG increase. Granted, I got the HOT tune, but Keith says that with the cruise set the fuel use is the same between tunes. And most of the time, I drive with a very light foot.

Concerning fuel milage; granted these are based on the EVIC, but all things being equal...

When I bought the CRD in July, I drove it from Little Rock, AR to Orlando, FL. The best I could do on the hwy at 70 (Jeep's guage which I now know is off by 2 mph), was 27 mpg. Earlier this month, I got the ECO, full torque. This holiday weekend, I made several 70 mile round trips down secondary country roads (60 mph) and highway (I-75) with little traffic. I also made a 60 mile round trip run on the turnpike running at 80 mph and reset evic. I was able to hold the speed (using cruise) for 15 minutes. Here is what I wrote down.

Country roads, 60 mph: 31.7 mpg (I would accelerate to 65 and back off to 60, set cruise).

I-75, little traffic, 70 mph (evic): 31.5 mpg

Turnpike 80 mph: 32.7 mpg.

So, I would say a 5 mpg increase is correct.

My typical week to and fro work/stores/racquetball mixed city and country roads averages 26 or so.

I also recently did a run with six golf cart batteries, one boat deep cycle battery, a 2000 pound boat and trailer, me, my wife, daughter and dog, plus luggage, fishing equipment, dive gear (no tanks) for 4 and tools to work on a cabin, and I got 27 mpg at 70 mph averaged over 120 miles (evic too).

I am extremely happy with the tune.

Good to hear reka12.....so we are now at 50/50. I hope more people chim in. I have spent too much on improvements that do not work for my jeep. Would have been ahead had I not shelled out the cash.

The fuel economy with GDE tunes will vary based on the following factors: driving style, fuel quality, AC, city vs. highway, lift kit, heavy or agressive trad patterns, etc. 3-5 mpg improvment is typical of a stock CRD or a 10-20% increase in fuel economy. Having a lift and all-terrain tires can significantly lower your average fuel economy. If the average is about 17mpg, then the tune might bring is up to 19.5mpg, based on percentages and so forth.

We are not planning another group buy. The tune price has been lowered across the board and already offers a significant value as it pays for itself in fuel savings over time. Consider a TV purchase, this is a sunk cost and its value depreciates as it is used. A GDE tune is more like investing in the stock market (bull market), it will pay dividends in fuel savings. The CRD will also hold value longer as some maintenance costs are reduced and longevity is increased due to reduced soot formation in the oil. The improved driving feel and performance is what we deduce as stock appreciation.

I got a eco tune. I saw a 2mpg increase in town but no increase on the highway. That may be due to my thermostat being bad. I am getting it replaced in 2 days and then I will check mileage again to see if it goes up.

A coworker of mine put together a spreadsheet to calculate payback. The Ecotune payback is roughly 21K miles. Sooner if the cost of fuel keeps going up. It was a pretty easy decision.

I've seen a noticeable improvement as well.... see my sig.

You absolutely cannot trust EVIC mpg measurements, especially after the GDE Tune - even the latest edition. In mostly in-town driving, my EVIC currently shows 33.5, when I know I'm closer to 26-27 in those conditions. On the highway, I've seen as high was 48mpg on the EVIC (after over 600 miles on the tank! actual was 33mpg) and mountain driving at 75-80 usually results in an EVIC reading of around 38-39, when actual mpg is closer to 28-29.

It's too all over the place... the only readings you can trust are hard calculations.

There it, it is official, I thought the price did seem lower on your website? In any event the fuel saving is the bonus to the tune, the improved :JEEPIN: drivabilty and the extra torque is the main feature in my book.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm happy with the tune. You can see my milage. The problem is that I didn't track it before the tune. The only thing I miss is crop dusting tailgating punks with thick black smoke. I can't make that happen anymore. The engine is smoooooth

Good to hear the benefits people are experiencing....

Sorry to hear the group buy is not a possibility...

I calculated out the ROI at a 15% increase and came up with 22,500 miles. I figure with the cold I am down to 24 mpg and will drop more as the winter arrives. If I am able to get 3.6 miles more per gallon then the ROI will be under a year.

Looks good.
