I wonder if an oil pressure gauge in supply line might be possible? Is it possible that Motori designed the oil tap at that point for a reason? It seems like they would consider the critical nature of consistant supply pressure.
Maybe I'm giving them too much credit.

For what it's worth, I had called a mopar mech friend, who was onsite listen to it and he figured it was the wastegate opening too soon. We now know that wasn't the problem!
But he told me to keep an eye on the temp. on the way home. I did and I noticed that it was cooler than normal. Probably because I was taking backroads at 20-25 mph.
Based on what you're telling me, I wish I'd just called AAA. I did run it for a minute to position it in my garage and it sounded okay.

What would be a reputable thing to do is for VM Motori in Italia to be available to answer the multitude of questions we are encountering and respond to our emails and phone calls.

The US VM Motori office is a joke.

What good is having a VM Motori sign in front of your store if you can't service your product, or direct us to available fair priced replacement parts?

To tell us to "go back to the clueless dealer because it’s Chrysler’s project and that VM will stay out of it" is not an answer.

It's a shameful Catch-22 that is destroying the integrity of what I and others considered to be a reputable company.

Chrysler is VM's customer not us :dizzy: We bought a Jeep built by Chrysler and there was no VM sign anywhere to be seen  Using that thinking Denso should recall the alternator because of the pulley they put on them :CAMPING:

Most of us also know we don't have waste gates either :SOMBRERO:
We have VGT turbo's built by Garret that have variable vains operated by vacuum to control the turbo. Same as the VW TDI's just ours is bigger.
Since we have basically the same turbo as VW we might also be having the same problem of the vaines sticking from soot up build from the EGR.

The newer version of the VM 2.8 has many changes and one is a motor controlling the turbo vaines. That turbo is available as a upgrade from GDE :jester:

Good question is, how many miles on these CRDs that are blowing turbos, what kind of oil, what kind of driving, highway or local, turbo is being cooled down before shut down? Lots of things can cause this?

Also, I typically have to slalom through my neighborhood for 5 or 10 mins once I get off of the highway, same for work. Both my work and home exits have lights that always that always catch me. I see them as a blessing now.
I don't think I'm shutting mine off hot.

All I am asking for is some consideration by VM, and to go right to the horses mouth for answers.

We bought a jeep with a VM Motor that is having issues. In some cases Chrysler is unable to diagnose the cause of the problem. The manufacturer may have more knowledge since it's there baby and may be able to shed light on the subject.

They clearly have a VM Motori Stamp on the motor... the motor was made by them designed by them and who more than they know best on what's going on with it.

Actuator, wastegate, I think in just listening in the parking lot he was just theorizing that whatever actuating action was corrupted. My point being our assessment was wrong. I'm gonna mess with him over the variable vane thing though, just for fun. I never knew there was that type of change between years.

What do you think of the Garrett units for sale on Diesel Parts Pro?

http://www.dieselpartspros.com/selectpa ... /40-3.html

Am I correct that this would work as a replacement?
