For the 13 years I lived in Germany, I always used Lufthansa Cargo for big items. I shipped a body kit and body panels for a SEMA show car to LA and it was there in 14 hours with a happy customer paying about $119 for it. You can fly from Germany to the US for Sturgis for about $2500R/T 2 people and a Harley on the same flight. When you live overseas you find out all kinds of cool things. As for parts no generally speaking they are more expensive, Germany has 19% VAT. I have a house, a wife, a dog and 2 cars that live in Germany still. She and the dog are coming over on Saturday for 3 weeks. The dog cost $900 to ship :(

That is a steal of a deal. Maybe they'll sell the engine alone.

A good one for KJ119, Where's BUB?

darn, if I had the cash... But yea, that would be a good one for Bub OR Jinstall to snap up. Has anyone heard any updates from Bub? The only downside to a conversion, it looks like they might have forgotten the dash console. It isn't mentioned, and the cluster is computer controlled in our vehicles b/c you know... Analog wiring needs to be rebooted so often on old cars...

I'ma PM him with that link too. I'm about 5 hours away from DFW.

For that price, I would consider buying the whole setup. Then you have a spare trans and xfer case.

Last I heard, he was waiting on funds before attempting any sort of teardown. As far as I know it's still sitting in his driveway. . . .

Still working with Jeep. They MIGHT take some of the cost and write it off as warranty. If so then I will get some stuff for engine monitoring and preventive maintainence. If they refuse to help me then I will probably take GDE up on his offer.

Still waiting for Jeep to get back with me on the engine finding mission. They did say they would pay $40 a day towards refunding me costs for a rental vehicle for up to 10 days. Jeep is supposed to call back this evening.

Going through similar issues right now with the dealer.... Best of luck with the new Engine! It would have been much nicer if Jeep stepped up to support this vehicle more thoroughly.

Here are a couple of ideas I have while I am waiting for the engine to show up:

Since the engine is out and the turbo has to be replaced, why not have the down pipe sent to me and get a EGT Bung welded to it? and where exactly?

Also why not have a turbo blanket installed on the turbo while it is all out like the one from Thermo-Tec?

I plan on using the Samco Sport hose nipple kit as well for a boost gauge later on.

You don't want it in the downpipe. You want it in the exhaust manifold, before the turbo.
