Do you guys think the steel of the Ruff Stuff is a negative? Its going to hold in the heat more than an aluminum cover would wont it??

I can’t speak for other aftermarket diff covers, but you’ll get a little more cooling from a Crane cover due to the near extra 1 quart capacity.

Thanks guys. This cover is quite a bit larger (more fluid) than stock. The extra fluid will probably offset the heat retention if there is any.

Rockcrusher makes a cover for the front KJ differential. I'm not sure how much more lube it holds over stock, but it might be something to consider for those who want extra oil. The OE engine skid plate already protects the front diff, so the benefit would mainly be the extra capacity. :2cents:

Has anyone confirmed whether or not this fits? Image

Not sure that would fit the D30A housing. Rockcrusher website only list the D30 cover. Plus it would be covered by the engne skid, so you would never see the logo anyways...
I went with a Riddler. Painted it red and black, now I just gotta get under the jeep and drain, install, refill.

RE: Front Diff cover
For one I don't think there is much room to install one with the mounting bracket covering part of it
second , what are you going to do about venting it then?
Stock one works fine.

I do not get why all say that a aftermarket cover like the Riddler,Crane,or even the ruffstuff cover holds more gear oil. They don't and you should never add more then what the manual calls for.The higher fill plugs are put higher for one reason, when you lift your vehicle the diff get's rotated and the higher fill plug is there so you still can add the corrrect amount of fluid. The size of these covers is a illusion also, they are thicker material so as they may seem bigger they do not hold more fluid as the materiasl thickness takes up alot of space.

PML and MAG makes higher capicity diff covers, they are not ment for offroading but for heavy towing.

Anyone have preferences over Ruffstuff vs. Crane?

Thanks to JeepForum discounts (code JPFORM ) this was a no brainer.

That and the girl in the photo is touching mine... ;)

Hope it gets here when the weather is nice enough to drain the extra-thick winter milkshake...
