Greetings all, I received some speakers as a Christmas gift to replace my blown factory ones in the front doors. The factory speakers are the premium infinity ones with the amps mounted on the back.

These are the new speakers here:
http://www.infinitysystems.com/car/prod ... Region=USA

So I went through the process of hooking everything up today and mounting the amps in a new spot that doesn't interfere with the window..etc, etc.

The driver's side door sounds fantastic, a great improvement to the cracking and buzzing from before, nice loud crisp sound. The passenger side on the other hand doesn't seem to be nearly as loud as the driver's side...there is definitely sound coming out of it...but it's just not at the same volume. It almost sounds like its at half the volume of the driver's side speaker. I went back through..checked and actually redid all of the wiring and connections on that side and still no improvement. I even went as far as going to get the factory speaker out of the garage and reconnecting it...same result as before.

I can't seem to figure this one out, and I don't remember that side having a lower volume originally, before I put the aftermarket speakers in.

Any ideas?

....yes I checked the left/right balance knob :)

-Ryan

P.S. Does anyone want the passenger side speaker before I throw it out again?...Only my driver's side door was blown, passenger side was fine. Minus the amp of course :)

Are you sure that you're connected to the amp's output and not the input?

Good Idea, you can also switch the 2 speakers and see if the problem is with the speaker or maybe an open ground in the system somewhere

I'm pretty positive I'm connected to the output side of the amp...the input side has a connector with a whole crap load of wires from the rest of the stereo I'm assuming. All I did was cut the old speaker off and connected the new one to the same spot.

Im going to swap the speakers tomorrow.

Thanks,

-Ryan

Swapped speakers and amps in multiple combinations today. Regardless of the combination of speaker and amp the passenger side was still at a lower volume than the drivers side. With only the amps plugged in...no drivers door speakers...the passenger side was still at a lower volume than the drivers side.

Could the balance gone out of sync / calibration inside the radio? Or is there a way to reset the calibration?

UPDATE:

Issue appears to be resolved, pulled the head unit out and unplugged it then plugged it back in. Everything is back to normal.

UPDATE2:

So unplugging and plugging the head-unit back in had essentially nothing to do with the volume balance issue. When I plugged the head unit back in and turned it on it defaulted to playing the CD that has been sitting in there for over a year now. 99% of the time I listen to my XM Radio that is playing through the cassette deck with the tape that has a plug coming out of it.

So I went and got an old Billy Joel Greatest Hits tape that was covered in dust and popped it in. The sound that came out was balanced perfect...I also checked the radio, that was balanced perfect as well. CD, Tape and Radio all perfect. As it turns out the tape with the wire that I use to plug into my XM Radio had worn out. I ran down to Radioshack to pick up a new one and everything sounds great from all sources now :)

...kicking myself for taking everything apart lol. What are the freaking odds of that tape thing going bad the same day I replace the speakers :furious:

Thanks again for the suggestions.

-Ryan
