When I crank the key it wants to start, but kinda chugs... like it is going to die, and sometimes does die.
I have an optima red top, have replaced my belt, and spark plugs are coming in 3K, so what else can I do?
Fuel filter?
Thanks for the help!

You're sure the battery is good? I had one that only lasted a few months before it died

unfortunately that's not the question.

with these beasts you have to have high enough voltage to turn on the computer while it's cranking the engine. Current without voltage will let you crank all day and not start.

it needs the voltage checked on a stress test.

Take out the air filter and try again then re-install. Then fuel filter but I would excpect a check engine light for low fuel pressure. Definately do the plugs if they are coming up in 3000k or did you do those already?

I've got a bad battery, where the peak is normal but the capacity is way off.. anything will kill it, like leaving a garmin plugged in, and turned OFF for 3 days

I've caught it a few times before it went completely dead and it'll crank, but not stay running unless I give it enough gas to run at about 1500-2000 RPM for 15-20 seconds or so

occasionally it'll knock off at stop lights even after I've been driving it, typically in rapid stop and go at short jump stop lights

it'll also cause rough idles and such too

in anycase, my battery "tests" ok on the tests when it's actually got a charge but the charge dissipates off pretty quickly to a point where it will barely start the vehicle, or not even allow my doorlocks to work, but 5 minutes on 6a charge and it cranks

pretty sure it's got a bad cell, there's some wetness around the caps etc

but i'd x2 or whatever the suggestion that it very well may be your battery even though the "tests" were ok
